Got turned on to this head unit by this forum. Seems like a really cool unit with nav, and an Android platform with lots of potential customization options. Engine and diagnostic data also shows up on the screen which is extremely cool. Sirius may be a challenge but this is not something I want anyway. Still trying to find more folks who have made the switch. Have posted on their forum as well. Particularly curious about quality of bluetooth music streaming from an iPhone, as well as what happens to the center USB port under the armrest. Seems there is a USB input but curious if it would be hard to connect this to the center port. Seems to me a lot of folks on this forum are thinking of pulling the trigger but are waiting for more feedback. I'm getting close. Anyone have any thoughts?

All I can say is that I've had mine for a month and love everything about it. I can say it was very overwhelming at first because of the amount of features. I learn more and like it more and more as I use it. I don't have any video to show you so you'll have to take my word for it.Yes the bluetooth works as the stock unit did with the SW controls, it also streams my Pandora from my Iphone every time I get in automatically. I'm not affiliated with Insane and was reluctant to shell out the cash but now I'm glad I did. The best thing for me was no hacking into any wiring and everything works right out of the box. It fits perfectly in the dash, no brackets or trim panels needed.
Now I plan on installing a back up cam and spotter/forward cam to take advantage of the aux video inputs.
BTW sirius xm app allows to use sirius but not the greatest when your out in the boony's with no cell service. but adding the $39 sirius receiver is another possibility. Even better for the trails is utilize the micro sd slot and play your own music or movies.

Just sayin

That works until you want to listen to something "live" like a sporting event. An SD slot won't do you any good if you want to hear a football game.

As they say, a photo is worth a thousand words. A video in this case. That's why it seems so strange they or anyone who claims to have one won't make a video of the thing in action.
They claim in their forum that the distributors they use have a good return policy if you don't like it.
My jku ww is still being built, but i plan to try the unit after confirming with 4wp that i can return it it if i don't like it.
I will post a video after that to show or in action.
That won't be for at least a month though since my order is only a week old.

Love mine! So much to explore on this thing, I also have one of those mobile hotspot things from Verizon and that's the best set up because I can download apps and music and junk on the go! If I could upload a video on here I would, what kind of actions would u like to see on it? Concerns?

I will say, my main reasons for buying: 1. Navigation with topo maps for offroading. 2. Bluetooth 3.the torque app monitors the ecu in the jeep 4. Controls my gopro so I can record and pause from inside (and playback my clips) 5. The plug and play harness 6. Better audio amp and plenty of inputs for aftermarket hook ups. (Includes other hook ups for cameras and such) 7. It runs on android, which I am very much accustomed to, can download nearly any app. 8. (And last but certainly not least) their customer service is excellent

Nothing like first hand experience. Thanks for posting!

Thanks DP88, and RagingBullFish, for the first hand info! Really appreciate you guys taking the time to jump in on this thread. :thumb:

Nice to have people with first hand experience post good stuff.

How does it feel/look quality wise? Assembly, components, knobs, switches, connectors etc.?
Some of the Chinese stuff has a real high-end quality look and feel. Other bits of Chinese stuff feels loose and flimsy.
How does this unit feel to you?

How is the screen when in sunlight? does it get hot and change colors/fade, or is it heat stabilized?

Audio quality of the phone mic? and where did you place yours?

Any "hitches" or "hick-ups" using U-Connect steering wheel controls, or switching between modes?

At first I was turned off by the lack of Sirius, but really it saves me $100/year, as I've got a car kit, so that is turning more into a plus in my specific case.

Again, thanks guys. First hand unbiased experience from people who own something is a real help. :beerdrinking:

ComancheScott, so far since I've had it installed the components feel very nice, mostly comparable to stock and from what I've read, insane audio is in fact an American company, whether or not they outsource is unknown. I would say the unit does well in sunlight, very bright but I have not had the top off with this headunit in. At night it's pretty bright but I just adjusted the brightness down and it's fine. I was never a fan of Sirius anyway so I didn't consider it much. And as far as the bluetooth set up, the audio is pretty decent but I think it's limited through bluetooth because of the bandwidth or something bluetooth is limited to. Install again was pretty simple, had to tuck the wires in to get it just right, and I don't have steering wheel controls but others have said that they integrate with the unit just fine

Thank you taking the time to post this.
Good to read it sounds like they've sourced quality components. On their user forum, they noted that the components come from China. This is no different than Pioneer, Kenwood, Mopar, Ford, Chey, etc.
However there are different grades of components, which is why your input is so valuable. Thanks again for the great input.

I currently have four Sirius subscriptions, and by not having the Sirius built in this radio, it would drop the number down to three (radio in the shop could easily do double duty). This would save a bit over $100/year in beer money... :)
Definitely enjoy Sirius, even though the audio quality is horrendous.

Depending on how much time u spend in your jeep, this is a very nice peice of equipment to have, I for one love my music and always have some on. The 1000 dollar price tag is very intimidating when I could have spent that money on seat covers and a lock box, but I think it would be worth it. Again, all personal preference.

I feel the same as RagingBullFish
All my steering wheel controls work the same as the factory unit did.
I'm using the internal mic on the unit( it comes with a external if needed )
No hick ups for me. My display is set to automatically change from day to night mode and once I adjusted the brightness to my liking it's fine

Day 2.

Getting a feel for the Android platform. Initial impression is that the sound is slightly muted through my Alpines as compared to the factory base unit but not bad. Radio is fair, volume goes down on occasion for unclear reasons. Seems like I'm about to get a navigation command even if I am not using navigation. GPS signal will occasionally get lost. Wireless does not work well with my cellular hotspot although when my iPhone is plugged in it works better. The nav software if good, love the little Jeep icon, reminds me of the family truckster in Vacation, just can't get the voice to work. Managed to get onto the internet without a problem. Love the touch screen. Don't like not being able to use video in motion, and how things turn off in reverse but there may be fixes for that. The live engine data is slick.

This is a very open-ended system and a lot of how this unit functions is operator dependent. It doesn't "just make sense" like a factory unit will and those who are not at least a little tech savvy will not like it at first but need to be patient. I will need to keep tinkering and hopefully the bugs will work out. If so this will end up being a nice little unit for the price. Has a shop do the install but hung around. It took 15 minutes. Video out cables are pretty short.
