Installed Rear Bumper w/ Tire Carrier.

Rugged Ridge Xtreme Heavy Duty Rear Bumper System

There were a couple disappointments but overall I am very happy with the bumper. The tire carrier is just awesome and I've already discovered benefits of being able to swing the tire away from the rear door; top is easier to put up, tire carrier locks open so a handy bungy keeps the door open and the window is easier to clean not to mention the weight of the tire is off the door. The door closes with ease now.
Yella is startin to look really cool and I'm enjoying every minute of being a jeeper.

It didn't fit to the body as well as I think it should have. Here are a couple pics:

I'm a little nervous about the two small screws that hold the catch on. That's all that keeps the tire carrier from flying open. Maybe that isn't anything to worry about though.

This is a very well made bumper and tire carrier. But in the end they lacked the details with running the wires to the third brake light. I think they could have done better than throwing in 8 wire ties to mount the wires. Heck, if that was the best they could do at least make them long enough not to need to double them up. Then they would have only needed 4 wire ties.

I think they could have engineered the wires to run thru the square tubes and would have looked a little better than this:

I also have the front RR bumper and just love it. Now that I have the back and the extra weight my ride is much closer to level now and I am quite pleased with that. Seriously that OEM milk jug rear only weighed 17 pounds so my back end went down right at 3/4 of an inch. The ride feels better too especially when I am braking. At least I think it is better.

A couple more little minor bitches; I had to grind down a couple bolts so that my door would pass over them ( and that might have been because the door is sagging from the tire weight before, not sure ) and I had to make a shim about 1/8" because the 5 shims (4 @ 0.04 and 1 @ 0.02) were not enough to allow the tire carrier to rest on the latch side of the bumper. But those were very minor.

It looks great, it's heavy duty, well made and I'm happy with it. Now my mod list is getting more tolerable as far as $$$ goes. Wet Okoles will be the next big ticket item. Then maybe spray-in liner.

Quadratek has about the best price I seen but I gave my local 4x4 shop a chance and they met the price. I might have paid little more in shipping but I like to buy local whenever I can. Now having said that I believe the bumper was made in china.

It costs more to ship from China than to make in China. That is the sad part of management bad decisions based almost soley on piece price and not understanding the whole cost (including all the inventory and it's costs to fabricate in China cost effective, at least seeming so...). A little off topic rant, sorry.

Bumper looks great!

Reviving an old thread.

OP, do you have an update on this? hows it holding up? im thinking about purchasing this bumper and carrier also with the linkage they provide.

Do you have any other problems that came up after the install?
