Installed RSP Steering Shaft Brace & RSP Track Bar

Last week I received my Rock Solid Performance Steering Shaft Brace and Track Bar package from Robert @ Rock Solid Performance, and had it installed on Tuesday.

I was looking for some way to tighten up the Jeep's steering and also wanted to minimize some of the wandering I have been experiencing on road. After reading posts and reviews from multiple places on this bracket, I decided to give Robert a call at RSP and see what he recommended. He confirmed this was what I was looking for and that I would need to use their track bar as my original factory track bar would not work with the RSP brace. (I believe some aftermarket adjustable track bars will work with his brace, but I recommend calling Robert to confirm this)

When I received the track bar and brace I was extremely impressed with the quality of both parts. The brace is an extremely precise/tight fight to the factory frame mounting location. The track bar is adjustable from 0"-7" of lift, is a bit heavier than the factory JK's, a bit thicker, and overall seems beefier. The finish on it was top quality. The instructions for the brace install were clear and very easy to follow (unfortunately I did not have all of the tools to do the installation myself... luckily I know a great Jeep mechanic)

After driving the vehicle for a few days, I can say the steering is a lot more responsive and tighter than it was stock.

Thanks to Robert @ RSP for being helpful and for designing a nice quality part for the JK!

Some pics of the product then post install. (sorry the color got washed out on the last 2 pics - cell phone)

http://www.rocksolidperformance.com/...brace_trackbar

says 2007-2011 but i can confirm this works on a 2012

as for a description.. their site lists the info...

installation instructions can be found here
http://www.rocksolidperformance.com/...structions.pdf

from what I've gathered it connects the base of the pitman arm onto a bearing mount to the frame track bar mount to strengthen the steering.

I'm sure it does a good job, like I said in another thread--none of these guys make JUNK, but

A lotta "mods" additions are based on racing--just like MOST of the american car safety additions, but

These steering structure additions would BEST be utilized, if you're running 37" and above tires-even with 35" tires if you've got a "heavy" foot-

Track bars are kinda like LCAs--if you're gonna addem--makem adjustable !

Thanks for posting that up. I have looked at both the JKS and the RSP steering box brace for mine but have not determined whether I will add one or not. I may just fabricate one and try it. I am a little nervous as the steering gear on the JK's are not of the same strenght as past Jeeps. I believe one major contributor is having a single bearing on the sector shaft vs. the older units having two, an upper and lower to spread the force out.

Mike.

Yeah, not a problem Mike. I read a lot of those posts about the weak steering gears and was hoping to have a little bit of preventative maintenance in addition to tightening up my steering response a bit. I think I've accomplished both. I think it's worth a phone call to RSP with no obligation to buy.

Either way you decide, let me know how it works out
