Installing a factory soft top on my factory hard top jk?

Hi everyone. I have a question. I've had my 08 hard top Unlimited since Sept and I am now trying to prepare for the summer. I found someone selling a factory soft top with hardware from an 07 JKU very cheap. My question: Can I install this 07 factory soft top on my 08 hard top JKU? How difficult? Much drilling? How easy will it be to switch tops once (and if) installed?

I understand there are plenty of aftermarket tops, but I want something that can sit out in heavy rain.

Thanks for your help!

Those years should be completely interchangeable with no drilling required. Just make sure you have all of the pieces including the tailgate bar, door surrounds, etc. Actually, I believe any year JK soft top will work on any other year JK, as long as you have all of the hardware and pieces for that particular year soft top.

As mentioned, fitment will be fine if you get all the hardware. Any quality soft top will stand up to rain. But prices on a Mopar take off are generally better than new aftermarket. Switching is not hard at all, just undo the 4 bolts that hold the softop to the roll bar and lift it out. Hard top is 6 or 8 bolts in the tub and lift off....
