My Barricade HD rear bumper and tire carrier came in yesterday and I'm stuck. The rear bumper is on but I cannot get the tire carrier to mount onto the spindle attached to the bumper. Ive used grease and mallet hits but no luck. Does anyone have some other suggestions than these? Here's a pic.

I helped my brother install his. We used lithium grease on the inside of the carrier and outside of the shaft. Does it go on at all as far as starting or just sits ontop as if the diameter is too big?
I know you are a smart dude but just want to ask.. did you remove the top allen nut/washer cap? Only thing else I can think of would be your carrier in that area is not true in roundness to slide down.

I've PM Ryan but haven't heard back yet. I know he's busy certainly. I just covered the whole thing in wheel bearing grease and still can't get it. The cap is not on the spindle it just won't fit over it no matter what I try.

Ok just spoke with someone at extreme terrain and I'm not happy. They guy said it sounds defective but didn't offer to just send another carrier until I return this messed up one. I tried to explain to him that the box the original arrived in was pretty messed up from shipping and I didn't think I could safely send back the carrier. He said go buy another box? What? He said I'd have to ship the defect carrier back to them and wait on a replacement until after they receive it. I asked him if they could simply send a new carrier and an RMA so I could put the defective one in the new box and send it back because of the wait time. No go. I'm not thrilled as all I've heard is good things about extreme terrain and their customer service. I bought this over the smitty SRC and the tuff stuff similar bumpers because everyone said if I had an issue they are really good at resolving things. This wasn't the only problem as the bumper also arrived like this.

Will do. Ryan's been great with everything so I'm hopeful a new carrier can come a.s.a.p. We had a wheeling trip laid out for tomorrow but I wont wheel without a spare. Gonna have to postpone. :(

Don't worry. Ryan's a stand up guy and will make it right. It sucks about having to postpone your trip, but it WILL get settled to your satisfaction. I had the EXACT thing happen with mine, and had a replacement in hand and installed within 3 days. Seems a common problem that happens during shipping, but don't despair....Extreme Terrain has top notch people, they'll hook you up

I'm sure Ryan will step in here shortly. He is off on the weekends.

That sucks that you're having issues. I'm wondering if you got a TJ Tire carrier.

ESP.

I purchased the Barricade HD Front Bumper in November and it came chipped on the corners like yours and at the welding points for the d-ring hooks and fog light mounts. I wasn't too pleased, but knew from the reviews that this was possible. I'm not sure why the manufacturer doesn't address these issues!

Extreme Terrain rush shipped a multi-step touch up kit, with three different sprays, wire brush, scuff pad, etc. With the weather warming up, I was finally able to touch up the bumper this weekend after a harsh winter here in NY.

Needless to say, I wasn't happy about having to go through the effort on a new item, but after having an aftermarket bumper on my TJ, I knew at some point down the road I would have to paint the thing, so at least I got it out of the way.

So this is just me offering my 2 cents here... but you guys have their credit card on file right? so why not just charge their credit card for the extra bumper if you dont get their RMA back within, idk, 30 days?
Yah i guess ppl could halt their credit card after the rma is sent, but this seems like a solid idea?

We actually used to do this and that's exactly why we had to stop! We ended up having a lot of people contesting the charge to their card when it showed up in 30 days. The credit card companies would reverse the charge and we end up holding the bag. That's what caused the policy change. I'm not as worried about that happening with you guys on the forums so I can often bend the rule.

Thanks Ryan, that would be great. I sent you a PM with the order information just now. I will send the defective carrier back as soon as the new one comes one. Looking forward to getting the 35x1250 MTR out of the living room. As much as I love the smell of new tires, I know my wife will be thankful its out of the house.
I can see where she's coming from! At least it's not as bad of a smell as gear oil or some of the others. I'm really sorry for the issue with the carrier. You'll have your spare mounted on the back of the Jeep where it belongs in no time!

UPDATE: Ryan sent out another tire carrier immediately and this one fit perfectly on the first try. Thanks for the great service, the defective carrier is on it's way back to you.

I'm glad that one fit so well for you! Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with!
A little off topic: How much does the rear bumper and tire carrier weigh?
The site says the bumper runs 110lbs and the carrier is 48lbs. Let me know if you have other questions or if you'd like a quote on anything!

looks good! I have the same bumper. I park a lot in Washington DC and used to get nervous someone would scratch my bumper if they were parallel parking. It happens a lot. Now I dont care. Go ahead and hit my jeep. They're not going to like what it does to their car, not mine. This bumper is build pretty strong.
