Installing the Teraflex Leveling Kit (1155200) - a few questions

I'm planning on installing the Teraflex Leveling Kit (1155200) myself on my '13 Sahara and have a few general questions.

1. When placing the jack stands under the frame, what is the best spot(s) to place them? (Diagram or pics showing location would be awesome).

2. What height jack stands will I need? My sense is that higher the easier it will be drop the axle low enough to pull the springs.

3. What are the torque values for the shock bolts and for the control arms?

4. Since this kit only adds spacers, is an alignment needed once done?

As close to the axle as possible on the frame rails

2. What height jack stands will I need? My sense is that higher the easier it will be drop the axle low enough to pull the springs. Yep.... The taller the better.

3. What are the torque values for the shock bolts and for the control arms?
Shocks bolts not sure (50-70)
All CA's 125 except front uppers 75
TB's 125

4. Since this kit only adds spacers, is an alignment needed once done?
You will need to re-center the steering wheel using the drag link.
Always a good idea to have the alignment checked.

Hi Hansen,

Not sure if you have reviewed the install instructions: http://www.quadratec.com/Assets/Installation/119314.pdf

It stats a realignment is necessary. I'm not sure if that is legalize to cover themselves, but you'll know if you need to realign with a quick drive around the block.

1. Don't have any pics, but I placed my Jack stands on the frame ( one on each side ) in front of the rear wheels, when doing the rear, and then behind the front wheels when doing the front. I used two hydrolic jacks to control the axel ( one on each side).

2. Standard Jack stands will work. Be careful when lowering the axel not to put too much stress on any brake lines.

3. Not sure of the torq values. I did it all with hand tools and snugged everything up.

4. Depends... I did not need an alignment but others have.


Get a buddy to help, it's not necessary but it helps

There is a write up out there that is very helpful. Search google.

Before starting, spray some PB blaster on the bolts, it helps when removing them.

DO NOT LOOSEN CONTROLL ARMS FOR LEVELING KIT , no red to even touch them. Just the sway bar links, and lower shock mounts.

Do yourself a favor and get a 1/2" torque wrench and go though the bolts you touched. If you did loosen the control arms for example, those are 125 ftlbs, much more than a typical "snug" tightening.

My installation of the Teraflex Leveling Kit went well. The instructions that came with the kit could be a lot better. I found the tips in these two posts to be very helpful. Get a helper if you can, take your time, and be careful. If you compress the front springs, they come out and go back easier, but compressed springs are ticking time bombs!

After the Leveling Kit, I had new tires and wheels installed. I thought a $49.95 alignment was a smart investment. Only small tweeks made, but I don't know if I changed anything doing the lift, as I didn't have it checked before the lift, tires and wheels.

Got it installed. Very easy and looks great. Gained 2" in front, 1" in rear and all four corners are within an 1/8" of each other. Took just under 3.5 hours total doing it myself including cleanup. Found some great videos and posts about installation of this particular kit as well as similar kits that reviewing them in advanced helped. A few other things I found along the way:

Make sure you have a floor jack that has some good height on it. Need to get frame rails as high as possible so axel then has much room as possible to move down. On opposite side of axel I was working on, I jacked that up fairly high which allowed the axel to easily go lower and pivot like s fulcrum on that jackstand under the axel as I pushed down on side I was working on to get spring out/in.

For rear, when pushing the TF spacer into the hole in the body, use a short piece of 2x4 and push one end against spacer and use a bottle jack on other end to exert enough force to push the spacer into that hole. Had about a one foot scrap of 2x4 laying around and worked like a charm.

The write up below was very helpful even though it was for a different kit. Just ignore the parts that do not apply. I did not loosen the control arm or track bar bolts.
