Intake Air Sensor wiring

I have a 2008 Wrangler Unlimited. I am trying to find out which wire on the air intake sensor is the ground. There are 2 wires, one is solid blue and the other is blue with a color stripe. Anyone have any idea?

Thanks,

Thanks,
do you mean the mass air flow sensor? and do you have a voltameter? from my experince in wiring the one with the stripe is usally the negative.

I don't think either is a ground, it reads resistance through a loop back to the ECU.

This is the sensor that is located on the air intake tube from the air cleaner before it goes to the throttle body. I looked at a Chilton Manual and I believe it is a loop back to the ECU. That would mean that neither wire would be a ground.

I want to try and add a typhoon power box to see if it will make a diference in performabce. The instructions say to attached the black wire from the box to the black wire on the intake air sensor, but there is no black wire on the intake air sensor. I am not sure if it matters how the wires are hooked up as long as they are both attached across the sensor.

Thoughts?

Intake Air Sensor Wiring

Get a multimeter and check the continuity of the two wires. If they are showing continuity then it doesn't matter which wire goes where because it is esentially just a loop. If it doesn't show continuity then you will have to check to see which wire is power and which is ground. Good luck!

2nd Response

I don't know if my first reply posted or not so I'll try again. First you need to check the continuity on the wires. Get a multimeter that reads continuity. Put one lead on one wire and the other on the other wire. If you get continuity then you know the wires are in a loop and therefor it won't matter which wire goes where. If not then you will have to determine which wire is positive and which wire is negative and go from there. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Thanks for all the good advice. You guys are right on the money. I used my multimeter and found out that the connection is a loop from the sensor back to the ECU. Problem solved.

Much appreciated.
