Interior Trim

Has anyone bought the Mopar interior trim for a reasonable price?! Their asking over $200 for the carbon fiber trim (#82213109)!!! I'm wondering because I tried to paint mine and ROYALLY effed it up and now it looks like poop and I need to replace or fix it so it doesn't look so bad.

Carbon fiber isn't cheap. Like it was said, just sand the old paint off (or you can try paint thinner)& redo it. Just take your time doing it. Use light coats, let it have enough time to dry before you put another coat on.

Have you checkeed out dash overlays from other manufacturers?

Here's a thread that might help: http://www.wranglerforum.com/f33/das...ck-197145.html

Check out CarId.com. They have a huge selection of overlays in all colors and materials.

You might run into a problem though if you try to apply it on a painted surface. Surface needs to be very clean. I'm not sure if anyone makes a molded kit for a JK.

Try using acetone - the best kind I have found is actually the stuff my girl bought at Sally's for taking off her nailpolish, it doesn't give me a headache quite as bad as the hardware variety. This works a ton better than mineral spirits ever could, I was impressed with how much paint it could strip off, especially if you soak a rag and then put the rag on it to soak a bit.

Would that work with plastidip? Its kind of a plastidip disaster. It wont peel off like I'm used to.

It should. As far as I know, plastic dip is already ready to take off.

You obviously haven't seen a quality dash overlay kit that was applied correctly then. Buy a cheap anything and it will look cheap.
