Does anyone know of a huge Jeep Internet sales dealership or maybe broker? It's not looking good for me in finding a 2014 Rubicon X with the options and color I want here in California, so I have to look in other states. Seems very time consuming trying to find the email addresses of Jeep dealerships all over the country, there must be an easier way.
Before I waste my time with him, can you be more specific as what "did right by me", means to you? I'm not being insulting, it's just that we all have a different definition as to what is a fair deal.
What time would you be wasting? seems more of a waste to try and figure out what deals other people received then to just call them and figure out if they even have the one you want. Were talking about a 5min phone conversation here… I bought my 14JKUR from Steve white motors in NC. Did i save money? yeah, i saved a little bit off MSRP, the place was stand up too and a huge internet dealer, but more important i got what i wanted…. I found the Jeep on EBAY and gave them a call. The Rubicon X is not a high production Jeep in comparison, and most dealers order what they consider to be the "packages that sell", the only thing that was on my side was time. I had months to wait and find what i wanted, ALL the dealerships up in NJ sell the same exact JKUR of 3 colors… they literally have the same exact models sitting in the lots.. I can only imagine what it would be like looking for a specific X model. I can't tell you how much time i wasted looking for my Jeep, but at the end of the day I got it because of my persistence, paid below MSRP and didn't waste money on options i didn't want. Theres one thing i learned about buying cars is that there is no one stop shop that works for everyone, so many things factor in like inventory on hand, what you want/supply/demand, time of year…. Google largest jeep dealerships in US… and start looking at inventory… Check all the online places like Ebay and the such.. DO NOT BUY THROUGH THEM.. call the dealers and avoid e-mails(thats the real waste of time because they won't give you any useful info unless its over the phone) If you don't want to waste the time then i would suggest ordering.. it sucks but finding something specific outside the norm will be very difficult. Keep a pen ready when you call and have them break down every dollar.. when they drop the jeep off you can always refuse delivery if they try and scam you for even the smallest amount and charge back your CC for the shipping and file a claim.
I just want to be clear that you will be wasting a lot of time, if its not worth your time then just order it. "did right by me" has nothing to do with a fair deal… They came to an agreement and the dealership upheld its end of the deal.
Jeeps website also has every single dealer listed.. just put in the capital/city and state and it will give you everything in the state and neighboring states.
Sorry i don't mean to be critical here, but just trying to get across the time and effort its gonna take…. because I just went through it. I wanted to save money, but also had something specific in mind that was not common.
I couldn't disagree more on that point. The last thing I wanted to do was get into a phone call with them -- now my time really is being wasted and I'm at their mercy -- playing the game they're good at: bait and switch.
I bought in March of this year. Emailed the same well-composed email to every dealer in metro Atlanta (8 or 9, iirc). Told them exactly what I wanted and what I wanted to pay. I listed the options, said I was going to order, and that I wanted 4k off of MSRP. Said the MSRP is 28,480 for the exact Jeep I want, and I want to pay 24,480.
It took from Tuesday till Thursday to get agreement from two of the eight. I chose the closest one, went over on Saturday, watched while he placed the order, gave him $500 deposit. And waited.
I know the OP doesn't want to wait, but that's not my point. I can't imagine how much time I'd have spent calling 9 dealerships and getting into the "sales system" with each one of them, who would then have my phone number and would call me repeatedly to "just see if you've done your deal yet?"
And even more importantly, I'd have been doing all of this verbally. Can you imagine the room for "misunderstandings?" LOL.
Nearly every one of them began by saying, "what's your phone number, let me call you and we can discuss." I steadfastly refused, stayed on point, and didn't waste more than the minimum of either of our time. It worked out well.
If they're not calling you back then they either don't care or they're busy selling autos to people that show up at the dealership. Sometimes when you want something, YOU have to go after it. I'm sure Pat and Fields Auto would get you a good deal but will it be worth a plane ticket to Illinois and driving it back to CA? Crunch the numbers and see
Get on Jeep.com and build/find exactly what you want and how close it is to you and go get it.
I agree, go get what you want... or order it and wait.
I used jeep.com to search inventory. Set view per screen to max. Sort by price. Set range limit to 500mi.
I did this. Local dealers felt the same way. I finally called the dealer who was 500mi away. We did the sale over the phone. I got all the options I wanted. He flatbed'd up to me. It had 7mi when it arrived. Seriously, no issue.
If I had it to do over again, I would either let a bank service find it for me or I would order what I wanted and wait. Both have their merits.
It's been said but I'll repeat. Just go to the dealer and TELL THEM what you want. That is to special order your 2015 exactly the way you want it, period end of story no hassle and it's done.
Also just to be clear, you have what they want, money, not the other way around, go there with that mindset.

I've already done that, maybe I wasn't clear earlier. Yes I can order a 2015 but then I'd have to wait even longer and none of the dealerships I spoken to, know much about the 2015's. Which I find odd. But I'm probably going to end up ordering it.
My local dealership kept popping off how they could find exactly what I wanted, yet they didn't. What they did do is try to sell me what they had on their lot. They have a couple Rubicon X's, without the options I want. I can't settle on something without an option I can't at least get via aftermarket.
Yeah my dealership did the same thing until he finally gave up and did what I asked him to. We waited 2 months for my wife's jeep to come in but it did in fact come in with what we required on it, it's well worth the wait.
I hope you find what you are looking for and welcome to the forum.
If its a new vehicle it is not a problem. The only real issue you have is if your state has sales tax you are paying that out of pocket when you go to register the vehicle.
Of course they are going to try to sell you what is on their lots. Vehicles on a dealership lot cost the dealership in money financed and carrying those charges for as long as the vehicle sits unsold.
When someone calls a dealership and wants the dealership to order a vehicle, the dealer is merely acting as a broker. The dealership gets more out of selling what is in inventory.
There's one caveat for having a vehicle transported from a dealer to your home.
I bought my Jeep up in Denton. I live in Houston. It's about a 4 hour and 30 minute drive, one way. Originally, I wanted to have it transported via auto transport tractor trailer to my home. I'm so glad I did not. Instead, we traveled in one car to the dealer. When I got to the dealer, I inspected the Jeep. One thing I took from the military (perhaps more than anything else) is attention to detail. I found numerous scratches on three fender flares; they couldn't be buffed out or whatever. I brought it to the attention of the salesman and he had the lead detailer come out and inspect it. He said he couldn't do anything to fix it. Then he brought the sales manager out, and after some deliberation, they got the shop foreman to replace three fender flares (what they did was swap them out from another Jeep).
Had I not been there to inspect the vehicle I purchased, I would have been s*** out of luck and received a Jeep with scratched up fender flares. I don't know about you, but I would have been pissed. (Sadly, I recently discovered that the service department didn't replace numerous clips after they replacing the three fender flares; but, what can you do. I'll do it on my own dime.).
It's just not a good idea to accept delivery of a new vehicle without personally inspecting it. Trust me. Sure, there are some with great success stories. Do you want to be the one who gets the scratched up Jeep? You may think you're just going to take it to a local Jeep dealer and say, "I bought this from so-and-so Jeep dealer, and I received it scratched." G'luck with that.
True. Especially with Jeeps quality. Great vehicle design, I just wish someone else made it. I have had a ton of issues surrounding the AC vent controls being wired wrong from the factory. It goes back in tomorrow. 5 times in 10K miles.
I might not have seen it at the dealer. I do agree that once off the lot, its a different ball game. I would have been better off paying a local mechanic to inspect the Jeep as if it were a used car.
Sales tax and registration: They included it in my pricing and when they sent the title and paperwork to the MVC it was already paid for, they were very much on top of this and it was stupid easy.
As to buying a vehicle and getting it in "new" condition not scratched… it's actually in the best interest of the dealer to make sure the vehicle is in tip top shape…. because YOU have the right to refuse delivery for any reason… you might be able to back charge the shipping fee if you paid the dealer…mine offered the service so it wasn't a third part. I told them that part of the condition of the sale was for a new undamaged vehicle and anything less would not be accepted on my end and i would not be responsible for any payments including shipping and down payments. I made sure it was done through e-mail so i had proof they agreed to it.
To get the GF's Jeep we used CL, Cars.com, Carguru's, and jeep.com. Lots of emails here and there. Jeep.com led us to the exact JKU she wanted, contacted the dearlership via email, and had everything set up. Few out to Denver from Portland and took a little vacation on the drive back home.
go to carguru's online and type in rubicon x and you will find dealers that have it in stock. The color may be an issue but if you really want a specific color than maybe they can order one for you
Sorry I should have updated my thread. I ended up going out of town to another dealership and ordering a 2015 Hard Rock, because my local dealership wouldn't deal.
