Talking iOttie Mount Review

$20 MOUNT REVIEW UPDATE
LINK->Amazon.com: iOttie One-Touch Windshield Dashboard Car Mount Holder

I'm very impressed with this mount. The way it grabs and releases your phone is really quick and effortless. It works well with the beefy "Otter Box Defender" case. It does vibrate just a bit, but it's not annoying, or hard to read. Its about the same amount as you would get trying to hold your hand still after going for a short jog. The test videos I have taken, on road, don't show the vibration much. I'm thinking I might put a sponge wedged under the phone and the dash when filming to reduce all the vibration totally, when filming off-road.

Here is something quick I threw together to show how well it works, and where I mounted it.

AUGMENTED REALITY COMPASS
I have downloaded the "Compass Commander" app (for iPhone or Android). It seems to be about 15-50 feet off the user created map pins (using it outdoors). They also have a upgraded version called SpyGlass. I'm guessing it would be a bit off too? It does seem to be accurate enough to get you headed in the right direction. I could see that being very useful. Does anyone have a more accurate app that acts like this? Or one that will give you a bearing to a different GPS location.

This video I found shows how it works with the upgraded SpyGlass version. The "compass commander" lite version doesn't use the camera overlay.

PROTECTION
I got an otterbox defender case that will hopefully keep the phone in good shape. It's pretty beefy. I got mine in black. After thinking about it, maybe red, or a bright color would have been wiser. Hopefully I don't misplace it at night.

I inherited a white iPhone from my son. I hated it until I had a black cover on it and kept loosing and forgetting it in my 2011 JKU. It blended with the black interior too well. I now embrace the white and don't have that problem.

Mine started breaking up after about 9 months. I was surprised about that. I just got a case from Griffin but it keeps making Siri go off at random times because of the button being convex instead of flush or concave. I think the TakTik case will be better. Or maybe the Mophie Outdoor case.

Hey is there any way the mount can rotate the phone on its side? Like instead of upright sideways? I would use my iPhone instead on my GPS if it would its just too hard too read the map well standing up

GPS kit is a great app. I use hunting, fishing, hiking, and it will work off reading. Love it.

It's not really phone specific. You could use it for almost any phone. This is the amazon title description

You could also mount it to the windshield or other spots because it's very adjustable. I'm not sure if it would work for taking video on the iphone 4. If not you could most likely drill a hole to make it work, or just clamp it a bit to that side. I started useing the "Waze" map app to find speed traps. I noticed that the mount does let the phone vibrate a good amount on the road. You can still read the small street names, but they'll be wigglin' a bit. For the price, $20, I think it is a great mount.

I just noticed someone left a user photo that showed it leaving a mark after they took it off(Customer Image Gallery for iOttie One-Touch Windshield Dashboard Car Mount Holder for iPhone 5 4S 4 3GS Samsung Galaxy S3 S2 Epic Touch 4G HTC OneX EVO 4G Rhyme DROID RAZR BIONIC INCREDIBLE 2 CHARGE Google Nexus BlackBerry Torch LG Revolution GPS Com). I'm not sure if that would be a problem with the Jeep dashboard. I'm just going to keep mine stuck on where it is and hope for the best.

It looks pretty tough and easy to mount in the jeep.
I have the rokform v3 for my 4s with the magnet in the back and threw a strong magnet from harbor freight on my dash and use it as a car mount and works perfect and holds it pretty well with the upside that you can mount the phone landscape or portrait
