iPod for 2011 Stock Radio

Just bought a new 2011 with the base stereo system. Is there any Mopar adapter to add iPod and/or bluetooth capability to the existing radio? Can I also add Sirius through the existing radio? I need to call the dealer tomorrow or Monday but figured I would try here too.

Thanks

you can pick up a sirius satellite radio system from Best Buy (or whatever electronic shop) and it will play through your stereo system using FM Channels, but you will have to mount it inside your jeep somewhere and run the antenna outside to your hood.

I doubt you can bluetooth to the base system but I don't know.. although you can get seperate FM transmitters that plug into the headphone jack on your ipod that would allow you to stream the music to your stereo via FM channels too.

You can get a cord for about $10 bucks from radio shack to plug your iPod in, thats where I got mine. Mopar has an adapter but it only works if you have Uconnect, thats what they told me at the dealer anyway.

I'm guessing the radio that you have doesn't have a SAT button on it?

In that case, you're probably better off replacing it with an RES+RSC (Media Center 130 with SAT button) or an REQ (Media Center 230/6 disc). Both can usually be found for sale on the forums for around $50-$150.

Then its just a case of adding the antenna which is about 70 bucks:

Sirius Satellite Radio Kit - Jeep Wrangler - Item # 82210466AB

For iPod/bluetooth first you need a uconnect kit:

Mopar UConnect Phone Bluetooth Wireless Hands Free Kit - Item # 8221175AB, 82211878, 82211877, 82211879 & 82207853AF

There are two types. One for the base RES radio without satellite (p/n 82211755AB, $366) and has a small control pad. The other is for the radio with satellite and uconnect buttons (p/n 82211878, $231). Both need to be parameterized into your vehicle by a dealer using the Starscan tool.

Then you need to add the iPod cable ($49):

iPod Integration (Models 2008-Up) - Item # 82210787AB & 82211263AB

So - in total you're probably looking at $231+$49+$70 for the MOPAR parts, then another $100 or so for a used radio with satellite built-in, then maybe another $50 for the starscan flash. Pricey, but that would be the 'factory' solution.

I did not know you could add UConnect, I was not offered this option while standing at the parts counter with an open wallet.

Thanks - I believe that the radio has both a SAT button and a Phone button. I am going to check with the dealer today. iPod is a must. Bluetooth and SAT would be nice but not absolutely necessary.

The RES+RSC has an aux plug on the right side that you can hook your ipod up to for 10 bucks using a mini stereo to mini stereo plug. Sure you dont get the control on the head unit but its SO much cheaper. I just keep the IPod in a Belkin unit that plugs into the 12v socket and places it in perfect reach and also charges the unit.

So I am planning on getting the 2011 Unlimited Sahara by December. And I felt this thread best suites my inquiry regarding the sound system and iPod. Here it goes,

Based on what the dealer told me... (taken with a grain a salt) the new 2011 with the top of the line sound system will allow you to connect ipod via USB providing you with on screen control of your Ipod with song information. This was not the case with older models, as you are aware.

If the system gives the same user experience as the 2010 model. I would rather spend the extra thousand or so and get an alpine system for much less with all the features the jeep system has and more. That said I am not looking to replace or add any speakers.
Do all three audio packages base to high end have the same speakers in them or is there a minimum package that I should get.

Hi all,

Does anyone know for certain that PN82211878 fits the 2011? I have a four door with the media center 430N (nav, sirius, I have the phone button on the head unit, not in the steering wheel). I talked to a couple of dealerships and they said there is no information for a kit to add bluetooth and ipod to the RSC stereo yet. They had also talked to chrysler. If the 2010 kit is not any different, I will just order that. But the dealership seemed to think there is something different.

Thanks!
