Talking Is it here yet, is it here yet ACE Midwidth Stinger bumper is coming!

Just got a call from the shipping company, my ACE Midwidth Stinger bumper will be here tomorrow!
Can't wait to get it on, have my Engo 12k winch ready to put on as well.
Now have to figure out if I am going to need a leveling kit to compensate for the weight of bumper & winch.
Anyone know for sure?
I have a 2011 Rubicon Unlimited, stock suspension - for now.
I work nights so can't get into anything too involved without getting some rest before work.
Pics will follow, hope to have it on by the weekend

No "if" it's just how much. You should be able to do it with hockey pucks.

Great surprise, truck driver just left, delivered my bumper today.
Now I can't do anything with it until tomorrow since I have to work tonight.
Thanks for the info on the hockey pucks, I'll have to check it out once I get it on if it sags.

I think you need the rear bumper from Ace with the tire carrier should level the ride right out.

OH YES SIR!
That $$ is being set aside right now, tire carrier/bumper & flat metal flares are next on the list.
After that comes the Clayton 4.5" long arm lift, 5:13's and 37's.
That should keep me pretty much broke the rest of the year but the Rubi will be looking good and I'll be smiling.

haha nice nice. I love the look of that bumper, congrats! I too am thinking of getting the ACE rear bumper...just torn between that damn eBay e-auto grilles bumper and the ACE one because I can't decide if I like the rear tire gate attached or not...hmmmmmmm.

sorry no pics yet. doing the install of the rear bumper took longer than possible. the frame bolts for the bumper are huge, and I didn't have a socket, or even a ratchet wrench big enough to fit it, so I had to do each bolt with a good ol adjustable wrench. need to remember to ask adam to post on the website what tools will be needed for the install, to make it easy for future installs. I'll get pics up tomorrow, finishing the install should be a breeze

Well, got my bumper mounted and all I can say is - I love it!
This thing is freaken awesome, put it on by myself with the use of some jack stands and lots of patience.
Mounted the winch, then the foglamps, then put it in place on the frame horns and tightend the frame bolts.
The winch does not have the control box mounted yet as I am going to mount it under the hood so had to get longer cables for that.
For the control switch itself I have something special in mind, I think it will be sweet
Here are some pics of my Rubi getting her strut on with new nose ring.

My only wish is that the bumper be about 3-4 inches longer on each side.... maybe they'll make a full width bumper soon....

Dumb question, what's the point of the bar that sticks out?

Technically, the stinger is to aid when coming off insanely steep drops and to hopefully prevent a rear over front tumble coming off said drop. It also adds some amount of grill protection. However, the vast majority of the people who have them have them for looks.

second the no "if" on the leveling kit. before taking your old bumper off, make sure to measure from the bottom of the frame to a level surface. Do your wrenching, then take a measurement from the same place. I would place a beers bet, you will be 1" to 1-1/2" lower than you are with stock. Tereflex hockey pucks do the trick. putting them in is pretty easy if you have jack stands and a floor jack (Takes about 15 minutes a side) While you are at it - change the stock bolts on the control arms.... All told, leveling kit and bolts - about 2.5 hours. 30- minutes figuring out what you are actually supposed to be doing :-)

Thanks, I've had the winch for about 2 months now was just waiting to get the bumper. As for the sterring I went to the store after I got it done and honestly I didn't feel anything different. Was expecting it to be like nose heavy or slower turning but If there is something I just really didn't notice.

It did come down about an 1" or so, but for right now I am not going to sweat it as I'm starting to put aside the $$ for the ACE rear bumper/tire carrier. Figure I'll wait and see if the weight of that bumper levels it out.

with my bumper installation, all I noticed was if I was braking hard the nose felt like it would dip a bit more than stock...lol, that's why I make sure I've got plenty of time to brake now and problem solved!

Co-woker came by today and we did the wiring install on the winch and remote mounted the switch from the control.
Here is everything wired:

Had to get extended cables to move the selonoid box off the winch to under the hood

Ran cables thru a gap between grille and back of headlights, then along edge of fender to the battery box:

Between battery & fuse box there is just enough space to squeeze in the box.:

Took switch apart and fed the wires in thru a hole punched with a coat hanger from engine bay thru firewall:

From there wire was threaded up behind plastic trim around top of winshield from passenger side to driverside. This is where I mounted the switch after cutting hole with dremel, got lucky and fit is very tight so it should stay in place:

When needed just connect controller to box, lower visor and operate switch from drivers seat. Figure if I need to get out to use the winch I can always just order an extra controller to have as an external use control.
Now you see it:

Now you don't:
