Is it me?

Or do the sound bar speakers absolutely blow? Its like they're a waste. Do they need an amp or something, or is there something wrong with mine?

I agree with you.. I don't really like them.. I can FEEL the sound coming out when I put mt hand on them.. but I can't HEAR the sound.. only thing I like about the soundbar is the dome light... I was actually thinking taking the sound bar off and looking for just a dome light to put in its place....

Also.. my sister was in the back and I asked her if she could hear the music from the sound bar and she couldn't either... soo what's the point?

I've been told that you can improve the sound quality by stuffing it full of polyfil (the stuff that they stuff pillows and stuffed animals with). You can buy it at Wal Mart, Target, etc.

Most factory stereo/speakers sux its why i opted for the Infinity sound system. Its one of 2 upgrades i had on my Jeep when i bought it.Replacing the speakers would definitely be an improvement if you cant even hear it.

Definitely not the best. However, I found that by playing around with the bass/treble/ and side to side/front to rear balance has made a big difference... worth a try....

(2011 Sport) If you change the settings you can hear the sound. I just purchased a Panasonic stereo and they sound 'a little' better. Budgeting now for those four kicker speakers. How that helps a lot. I really don't want to add a sub.

I did replace them, and they are a tiny bit better, but not enough where you can tell a big difference. Maybe I should just put an amp on them.

If they're anything like the pods in the TJ, the bar speakers are way out of balance with the front ones, power wise. At even F/R distribution, i'd have to crank it until the fronts were about to blow before i could hear the pods. Moving it to ~30/70 F/R balanced them nicely.

I replaced my sound bar speakers with a pair of kickers from Quadratec they are much better than stock, I wouldn't enter it in any sound competitions but it's a jeep.

I think I have the upgraded infinity system in my 2010 JKU--i know it came with the infinity sub in the back.

I still can't even tell my soundbar speakers are there. Overall, I think it's a pretty darn good sounding stock system for a jeep (the sub helps a lot), but I do feel like it's missing an obvious opportunity by basically sending nothing out of the soundbar.

I had assumed it was the stock head unit fault--the rest of my speakers all sound reasonably good. You guys who replaced the soundbar speakers are finding otherwise?

The first thing I had to do was go into the menu and change the front to rear fader until the soundbar output matched the front speakers. The Infinity system w/ subwoofer already has a amp.

Mine are not that loud, cannot hear them with the windows down. I am thinking of getting the upgraded "Kicker" brand speakers I saw on ebay, like 60 bucks a set.

MTH: is the subwoofer wiring already prewired there from the factory, just doesn't have the sub if you didn't order it? Mine has the plain radio/CD/Aux, no sub. I was thinking about seeing if I could add one, they take up minimal room, I like that! just curious....

I can hear my soundbar speakers in my 04 just fine, even with the top down, they are needing to be replaced because they are starting to crackle if I have the bass turned up though.

Yeah they got some age on them. Mine just plain aren't loud, I may play around with the fade though, see if that helps.

I've got a pretty base headunit--no touch screen. As far as I know, I don't have a menu option for the soundbar speakers.

I've seen that question asked and answered where folks see a stock sub on Craigslist or some such thing for cheap, but I don't recall what the answer is. I feel as if it's not, unfortunately. But run a search for "sub" etc. I've seen it discussed.

By default the rear speaker with the stock radio is designed to not have a lot of output from the hu for safety reasons.
The upgrade to 77 kick 10 helps some but you need to change the hu to get the rears to sound really good.
I upgraded my 2012 to all 77 kick 10 speakers and since I like the stock hu I added a 12 sub and step down

Agree, the fronts are supposed to be the dominant sounding in the system. The rears are to balance the overall sound BUT... I do agree-they are terrible. I've faded the sound all the way to the back, they are just plain horrible. Overall the system is ok for a stock system. I have amps left over from my Tj and subs but am in no rush to install. I am probably going to upgrade the soundbar speakers for now and that should make a good improvement

Polyfil the subwoofer. It's housing is plastic, which is great for weather, but sux for resonance. When I filled mine (I stole a throw pillow off the couch, don't tell the wife), it made the subwoofer tighter and the sound bar speakers are actually able to be heard.

Now, it's decent. Not concert quality, but it's a Jeep. I can live with it

Stuff the SB speakers too? Or you just saying it makes the SB speakers heard more, stuffing the box? (that sounds bad)
