a) Built in Mexico
or
b) A lot more expensive

c) No longer made at all

I drive a 4 door; since I'm not a female that would make me a mall crawler. Thanks for clearing that up.

I love the fact that people act like way over half the JKUs are not being driven by socer moms or old ladies. I drive one but I dont get all butt hurt when someone brings it up. But then again no one has even been within 50 feet of my jeep and assumed it was a mall crawler so I am not worried about it.

Love my 4 door. Don't really care what other people think. I actually drive mine off road and on. Rides and steers much better than a two door. To each their own.

BUT...when I think of what will fit my lifestyle (and pocket book).....that isn't it.

If it were not for the 4 door, I would not have a Wrangler.....and I was actually in the position to get a 2 door-stick (by keeping my Liberty). But it was one of those things where I don't off-road enough to drop $28k-$30k on a 3rd vehicle...simply to have a 3rd vehicle that was a Wrangler.

Without the JKU, I would not even have a Chrysler.

Ditto unless its a awd charger srt8 but I could never see buying a charger when they cost more, and are slower than a SS and a 5.0. More of a "family" muscle car

Isn't it obvious that the 2dr ppl want the extra space of a 4dr and the 4dr ppl want the classic look of the 2dr?

I think 4 doors are much better looking, I honestly prefer the look of willys and yjs to new jks for some reason.

The 2 door doesn't look "classic" at all to me. If I was going to build a two door it would be a TJ, well a LJ actually because piss on short wheel base.

I was considering a 4 door when I heard my wife was pregnant with our second child, but we've decided to keep the 2 door because of all the time and energy we've already put in it. I'm really looking forward when both kids are big enough to hop in the back, it will be perfect.

In Puerto Rico there are definately more jkus, but the jks are really abundant too.

Nah....you mis-interpreted what I'm saying... (hence my roll-eyes)

There is this assumption that "only" soccer moms and mall crawlers buy JKU's. That clearly isn't the case.

Those that wheel their 4 doors purchased 4 doors (over 2 doors) to fit their lifestyle or needs (or even wants).

Those that don't wheel their 4 doors (like me....but want a 4 door, 4WD, convertible) would probably not have a Wrangler (or even a Chrysler) at all if the JKU was not around.

It isn't 2 door vs 4 door. It is understanding that Chrysler saw a market for the 4 door, and hit it out of the park (and yes, mall crawlers and soccer moms are a part of it). The JKU is helping to keep the Wrangler name alive in a big way.

I said these type of "threads crack me up"...but that is incorrect, because this thread was originally about the availability of a top for a 2 door.

I should say, these types of conversations which sometimes manifest.....crack me up.

I agree with you Panther. This reminds me of the wave threads. It's a Jeep...who cares what anyone else does.

Side note: I get way more waves since I've started modding my JK.

I agree, I love my JK 4 door, but that was after I put a fast back top and new rims and tires.

Disclaimer though, I think ALL wranglers are ugly without rims and mud tires. So it's not just a 4/2 door thing.

The local dealer here in town won't even order a 2 door or for that matter a manual shift for the lot. If you want a 2 door or a manual 4 door you have to order it or go to some other town.

If I still had kids at home I would have a 4 door since they didn't really make getting into the back of a 2 door as easy as it used to be in the earlier Jeeps. I think they fixed that problem with the 12s though. Anyhow since I wheel mostly alone or with one other I will stick with my 2 door which can turn on a dime and give you change.

As for the original poster you should ckeck out the other forums and see if you can find a top on one of them. I have seen the 2 door tops for sale for 500 dollars on jkowners.com, in fact a bud of mine sold one on there for that price. Good luck to you on finding one at a reasonable price.

Yes, and making the Cayenne was one of the best decisions Porsche has ever made. Do you think Porsche purists approve of a Porsche SUV? Of course not. They respect, understand, and agree with the fact that Porsche made the Cayenne to make a ton of $$ that they can put back into the 911, but that doesn't mean they think it's the best Porsche vehicle ever made.

I've only seen one other 2 door unlimited, including mine that means I've only seen two. They're kind of rare. At least 'round these parts.

Bingo it's all about money, if the stationwagon market skyrockets for some reason I guarantee every auto maker makes one the next year. This is such basic economics people over think it. They're are more families than offroaders. Offroaders also have families. Not many families can say a two door is big enough for them, so if they want a wrangler, they either sacrifice the space or go elsewhere (more would go elsewhere). The demand for a family vehicle that is awesome is much higher than a "coupe" suv it's as simple as that. Supply and demand basics here

Some comments in here are ridiculous. Its a matter of personal preference. I like my two door. I dont need a four door. If I did, I would have got one, as there is nothing else with 4 doors that comes close. They BOTH have their unique advantages and drawbacks. Yes, the four door helped save Chrysler and Jeep. Sales are insane. If soccer moms want to buy them and drive them great. If college girls want to buy a two door and drive it, great. As long as THEY do, WE benefit. Look at the jump in engineering from the TJ to the JK. You think that would have been possible if they didnt plan on marketing big sales? My only fear is it worked so well, the Wrangler loses its identity and off road capabilities for more street friendliness when its refreshed. I think ALL of us can agree on that.

There was extended "Unlimited" version of the TJ. Not JK.

Speaking of extended, if they made the JK-L that would be awesome

It won't take long.

I wonder how long it'll be before the thread gets shut down. I'm seeing holes in the dam, being plugged with hatred and jealousy.

...And isn't it great how all the haters failed to actually read the first post before just jumping right in with half-rants?

...Can't wait to see how many of the "soccermoms drive Unlimiteds" and "Stock Unlimiteds are ugly and look like buses" comments start rolling in.

Subscribed for the downfall.

Isn't it great a choice for the needs of the buyers. For me a 2dr was just what I needed I removed the back seat the day I brought it home. For the wheeling we do here in Michigan it's great for us. Since my wife drives a Suburban as our DD our off road toy the 2 dr Jeep.

What really happened with the whole 2 dr / 4 dr thing was all the guys that used to drive 2dr grew up an got married, then kids happened and then ... Well , most of us convinced the wife that the jeep four door was the way to go with the kids. Or something like that. There has to be some humor in this.
