Long story short, this kid hit the side of my Jeep coming out of a U-turn. I tried to move when I saw him, but couldn't. I ended up doing a 180 onto a curb and all my tires are flat/ rims broken. What kinda estimated damage am I looking at here? My suspension really took a beating and all of my wheels are canted now. This really sucks...
I just lifted my Sahara after 900 miles, let me know if you need parts I can sell, I also have stock 17" wheels (75th AE)/ GY Silent Armor tires but I live in S Florida and would rather not ship those.
It is going to depend what they find when they check the frame and suspension to see how things line up. Axles and frame could be tweaked.
They may could repair it but you might believe it does steer just right. If so you would be better off with it being totaled and getting a new one.
As long as your frame and axles are ok you'll be fine. They are pretty tough. I once hit my s10 at a 45 degree angle front passenger wheel first into a huge curb. Bent the entire half the rim under the truck with a arms and everything. They fixed it. It was fine.
You have straight axles so if one tire is down then it will rotate the entire axle and make it appear that way--you need a new tire maybe rim and you will be fine. The alignment could also be off a bit or maybe bent a tie rod but other then that it is minor
Something that is easy to forget about - when you signed for finance at the dealership, maybe they slipped one of those UVP warranties under your nose too? If so, you may have the tire and wheel protection. Well heck I don't even know how old your Jeep is, let alone whether you financed.
Anyway, when I went in to the finance guy to get sucker punched, I selected wheel and tire protection, along with windshield since I'm tired of buying windshields on my own coin...
On a side note: if I wanted black OEM rims could I ask the body shop to order them? I mean, if they're already replacing my wheels and tires why not get them?
Forget the warranty claim and have the kids insurance pay for repairs, and most importantly, file a diminished value claim. Wrecked and repaired vehicles are worth a lost less than one that has not been wrecked, hence diminished value.
If you don't know what a diminished value claim is, google it. The insurer will not pay you for it unless you ask
