Is lifetime max care warranty worth it

IVe been reading the reviews about the warranty but looking for newer feedback. My jeep is a 2015 with 31k miles. As most of us here, I've done many upgrades ( which would not be covered under the warranty). Is it still worth buying the warranty? My insurance company gave me mechanical breakdown insurance with a $500 deductible for anything major that is not working and no longer covered by warranty. I've done some checking around and the lifetime warranty is about $2500.

What is your long term plan for the JK? If you plan to keep it for the very long term, the Lifetime deal is the way to go. BUT, you need to be sure you really will keep it long term. FCA is betting you won't, or it'll be totalled, stolen, etc.....

I see no reason to get any other warranty that runs out at 100k miles.

I plan to keep this Jeep forever, however I rejected all extended warranties for a number of reasons:

1. The "Never buy an extended warranty." general rule
2. I would rather have my trusted 4x4 shop that specializes in Jeeps work on my vehicle instead of any dealership.
3. If something fails, I don't want to replace it with an OEM part, I want to swap in the HD aftermarket replacement
4. I foresee many arguments about coverage being denied due to "extreme abuse" and aftermarket mods that voided some aspect of it.

However if you plan to keep the Jeep forever, not mod it, and not wheel it hard, then I could see the lifetime maxcare warranty being an attractive option.

Just got off the phone with Tom. Heck of a great guy. He will give you a significant education on the warranties in a matter of minutes.

Thanks Tom!
I just bought my maxcare lifetime with Tom yesterday. I had it on my prior jeep (given to me by Jeep due to some delivery issues for 100k miles). On my prior jeep, I did use it a few times and had no problems. Since my new Jeep is one I plan to keep, I drive a ton of miles, don’t plan to mod or off road, the lifetime warranty makes sense for me. I am already over 10k miles in six months of local daily driving. Prices go up again April 3. There is currently a Jeep credit card deal with no interest for six months and some cash back if that’s helpful. Thanks to Tom for a much better price than elsewhere (and for what it’s wirth, my dealer doesn’t offer maxcare but pushes their own warranty because their reimbursement rates are better).

If you bought it and never used it, no, it's not a good deal.

If you bought it and at 70,000 miles your AC went out, then the tranny, then the ECU then blew a head gasket why, it's a steal.

Bottom line is, it's a gamble. Jeep doesn't have the greatest reputation for quality and longevity so I bought one. My jeep is still new so the jury will be out for me for several more years.

Do a Craigslist search for vehicles with a minimum of 300,000 miles on them within 200 miles of you and see how many Wranglers there are. You'll be lucky to find one. Not too many Jeep brands in general.

Bet there are lots of LS, Honda and Toyota powered ones though. Oh, and semi tractors too of course.

There's your answer.

My understanding is that the lifetime part is a little deceiving. It is based on the value of your vehicle. If yo drive your jeep for 10 years and get 300,000 miles on it and the motor blows, if the cost of the motor replacement is more then the BB value of your jeep they pay out the value amount and buy out the warranty. People think they can buy one of these and drive the jeep forever and ever because they will always get it fixed, my understanding is that's not the case. So in that scenario the warranty is only going to be a value if you happen to have a failure if something breaks after your factory warranty expires and before you rack up enough miles that your value drops off.

Plus, my jeep is going to have top be pretty old and in sad shape to have a book value less than the $2,800 or whatever it was I paid for the warranty and at that point I came close to breaking even assuming I'd never used the warranty at all up til then.

I'm not sure it's based on the cost of the warranty or the cost of the repair. Who knows, 5 years from now it might cost $10,000 to get a 3.6 put into a 2013 JKU. If your 10 year old JKU with 200,000 miles on it might not be worth this much. I know those familiar with insurance and warranties might understand this but I have also read a lot or people on here who feel like they can buy a 2700 warranty and comment thathen they can drive their jeep forever because of the warranty, that is not the case.
I am curious if somebody bought a lifetime on a JKU with a 3.8. If the motor completely hatches beyond repair and FCA is no longer making 3.8's what their response would be, anyone dealt with that?

The way I read it is they will pay for a covered repair unless the repair would cost more than the Blue Book value of the Jeep. In that case, they'd pay you for the value of the Jeep and the warranty would be canceled after that.

I bought a Max Care lifetime bumper-to-bumper for our '13 JK back in 2013 from forum member Tom at Hayes Jeep. At the time, the price was slightly less than $2,000. We recently had a repair that was covered by the warranty, minus a $100 ded. The repair cost to me would have been around $2,500, according to the service advisor. The price of the warranty has more than paid for itself and we plan on keeping our JK for at least another 5 years.

EXACTLY RIGHT. And given how well Wranglers hold value, I'm a believer that this is a decent deal for those of us committed to driving our Jeeps for many miles and years. IMO, FCA is betting on a significant number of buyers who will part with their Jeep well before the policy pays off. Remember, it's not transferable.

Perspctive on Lifetime Warrantees:

I have a 1987 Suzuki Samurai (bought new) that I purchased a lifetime rust through warrantee from Mr Goodwrench. GM sold the warrantee rights to another company some years ago. I found that I had a small rust through behind one of the rear fenders. When I attempted to put in a claim, I found that the company that took over the warrantee is now out of business.
