Is stock audio good?

Im 15 and just got a new wrangler unlimited 2010. Are the stock speakers good? And does it already come with a subwoofer? Even if it does would it be better to get a new one??

If you're deaf, the stock audio is phenomenal. But seriously, no. There is many a thread about upgrading the audio systems in the Wranglers. Just use the "Search" function and you'll find them. Go to the electronics section of the forum and there will be many there as well.

FWIW it sounds a lot better if you don't use the sat radio.......

Using MP3s from my Ipod.. the sound was decent... You won't be thrilled with the bass though..

if you are 15 and are worried about it, you will probably not be happy. Take my advise.. get the cheapest radio option and upgrade it with aftermarket. Why pay for an expensive stereo and then want to replace it?

I don't understand.
If you have the vehicle, why are you asking us if they are good? It would be up to you to determine if you consider them good.

WELL, I have tinnitus and I kinda like the audio system the poor sound quality keeps rhythm with the ringing in my ears...

Actually, didn't buy the Jeep for the radio but it doesn't bother me I'm just too old to give...

You and me both....LOL But anything is better than the stereo in my Subaru WRX, that is hands down the worst stereo ever put in a vehicle. I am actually happy with the Jeep Alpine, but I don't really care all that much about sound quality.

I think I may even have the upgraded stereo on my 2014, but it sounds pretty muffled and the bass sounds muffled and dirty while the highs are not crisp. My stock 4Runner JBL/Bose setup is so much more clear and clean sounding. Disappointing sound.

Same here. I put a bunch of music on the HDD, and it actually sounds better than either FM or satellite radio.

The Infinity/Alpine is tolerable but the base stereo speakers are utter garbage.

IMO a lot of the question can be answered by what is your source? IDK about the '10s and we are slightly off track / high jacked......but the Music we have "stored" in the Head's memory (ib our '14 Polar) sounds better than anything else....even the same CD the music came from...IDK if the "computer" in the head unit clean it up, or if the cd player is not as good but all the "info" can be read and saved by the head unit.....that is one of the best features of the upgraded sound system in the '14s IMO.

MP3's on my U130S sound the best, then Radio, then Satellite(which is horrible).

Like the others mentioned, it's pretty much crap. But it is probably better than any previous Wrangler.

The mids up front are anemic so you have to use the soundbar speakers for bass but the plastic enclosure creaks and groans under load. I specifically put only rock music on my MP3 discs for my Jeep 'cos I knew that dance/electro/rap would be all but pointless.

It's crap. The money I spent on the upgraded Alpine system was utterly wasted - shoulda gone aftermarket. And the base radio (130) - I ordered it because I figured I'd use my phone as a source most of the time, and who could screw up an audio jack? But now I think things like, "Gosh, i didn't know they still made radios this bad."

I'm sure a Wrangler can be made to have good sound. But Chrysler can't seem to do it. (Oddly enough, I'm coming from a 2001 Grand Cherokee Limited, which had killer sound.)

I am pretty sure my 2007 2dr sounds better than my 2014 JKURX. Like they actually got worse.

I did the 'poly-fil in speaker housing' trick I learned from here, and it improved sound plenty for me. Before any amount of bass would rattle the speaker housing and I'd have to turn it way down. Now it's decent and will almost take the full bass adjustment on radio. Before, I had to dial most of the bass out, and even the treble had to be turned down. Now it's ok, but not fantastic.

Stock sucks. Period. That is why when I bought mine I got the base 130 as I knew it was coming out. I had an entire system ready to go before I even picked up the Jeep from the dealer. All new everything.

Within a week after buying my new 2013 JKU, I ripped everything out. Put in all new speakers, new sub, a kick-butt amp, and now it rocks. Don't waist any money on any of the Jeep audio systems. Just get the U-Connect if you use that feature.

I want to obviously keep the Nav, so I may look into replacing the speakers first. I wonder if it is possible to add a small amplifier inconspicuously somewhere. Subwoofer- clueless on this right now, but I don't want to add stuff like subs that will take up room.

I put my amp under the driver's seat.

My stock speakers were horrible. They would distort very bad when I had the volume up. I replaced them with the Kicker speakers and I have an aftermarket high power Pioneer / navigation radio. My JKU also came with the factory subwoofer. Now, the sound system in my Jeep sounds fantastic.
