Is The 2012 Worth Trading in For?

Hi guys I'm new and have been to this site a bunch of times but i was looking for opinions. I have an 09 Rubicon 2dr and it only has 25K on it that is basically stock. I live in South Florida and wheel as much as i can but there is nothing rocky around here. I love my jeep but the only thing is i find it a bit slow and bad on gas. I dont know if is worth upgrading to the 2012 even if i get a sport model because the tires on my Rubi are almost ready to go and i was planning on lifting and put new rims/tires. The sport model is fine for me except the ugly rims and tires it comes with. I would be giving up lockers, dana 44 front, sway bar disconnect, ect... The interior is much nicer and the new engine is alot smoother. With the resale value of my Rubi its not much if any out of pocket to get a new vehicle but on the flip side i walk to work and only drive weekends and small errands.

Trade a Rubi in for a sport? Why?

I don't know what the difference would be comparing the Rubi 4.10's to the sport 3.21/3.73 (whatever) also depends if you have a manual or auto.

Paid off?

I personally would not trade up if I still held a loan on it. Just does not make sense.

I made the switch from an '09 to '12... The engine alone has made the switch a big upgrade. I really liked my '09... I really love my '12. They have addressed everything I did not love about the Wrangler.

The average MPG is only 2 MPG more. Not worth switching from a Rubicon to a Sport for some who walks to work. It also doesn't make sense that someone who is concerned about fuel mileage is talking about lifting and larger tires.

The Sport S comes with the same exact wheels you currently have but with different tires and a different finish. You would also be giving up a lifetime powertrain warranty, provided you are the original owner of the 09.

I have an Auto on my Rubi but would like a 6 speed on the 2012. I am not the original owner so i do not have the lifetime powertrain warranty. I owe very little on it using it just for credit score. I like the new Rubi but it is probably about an extra $100 per month. I plan on putting different rims on tires on which ever jeep i decide on either way. I do take alot of trip such as keys/orlando/jax and i test drove the new one it seem alot better on the highway for longer trips as i have a good ride to go anywhere there are trails down here. Thanks for you input guys.

A little information goes a long way. Now it makes a little more sense. If you give poor information, you will get poor advice.

liked my 2007 Sahara, Love my 2012 Rubi. like tom said, it only gets a couple of mpg more but i think the ride is a bit better. I use mine as my daily driver over 100 miles per day and being able to get over 300 miles per tank is a plus for me. i like the 6 speed and 4:10's and that, along with more power is the reason i got mine. not for the crawling ability although it don't hurt. i go to upstate n.y. a couple of times a year and get into some serious back woods log roads. some can be pretty challenging, especially if it has some snow on the ground. the sahara did fine, but was at too high geared for me even in low range. Either way i think you'll be fine, although the 6 speed is fun to drive.
