Is this clip supposed to come off?

I took my roof off and this clip fell off - its where the screw, screws into on the back of the roof into the body of the jeep. There are 3 screws on each side that need to be removed to take the hard top off.

I noticed each screw has one of these clips, but they are all loose and can fall off - and then be lost. Why wouldn't they attach these clips permanently?

Is it normal for them to fall out?

Definitely normal. Mine fall out quite often when removing the top. Once the top is removed, I just put the screws back in.

I had one fall out once. Usually the carpet keeps them in place pretty good.

lol, roger thanks!

Ya, the back of my Jeep is full of rescue equipment which is supposed to be organized, but turns into a giant pile of gear quickly. It would swallow up a small clip very quickly that would require lots of searching to find.

Good point - in the future i will put the screws back in with the clip.
