The wife and I will be going to Daytona this year for the 2016 Jeep Beach. Looking forward to this event, I remember reading about it on this forum here last year when I was a "lurker" and really wanted to check it out, I told my wife last year that we would go when we had the Jeep :bop:. I would like to stay right on the beach and be able to see the people drive by when we're in the pool :bop:.
What are some of the better hotels there for this event? How is the Acapulco hotel? Who is going? Here is a pic of my Jeep if you haven't seen 1 of the 1 million pics I posted here :action-smiley::action-smiley:

Again...as I said in the Bantam thread, I would love to go if I could find the time.

The LaPlaya is really nice.

In 2009 we had an 8 day family vacation at the Sun Viking Lodge, the staff was very accommodating....the place was right on the beach....and the price was moderate.

Sun Viking Lodge- Daytona Beach Hotels

Any of these "beach front" places take a lot of abuse around spring break, just make sure you specify what your needs are.

Today I called around to a few hotels on Daytona Beach, prices range from $89 (Wednesday & Thursday) to $224 (weekends) a night. I ended up reserving a room at The Shores Resort and Spa with an ocean view, it was 1 of their last rooms available. They're the host hotel for Jeep Beach, should be a a good few days of Jeep fun :iamhappy:.

We went last year for the first time and in my opinion we had the worst time ever spent most of day waiting to get into event. Then once in tried to go on course and was another super long wait and never actually made it on course so that was our first and last time in Daytona.

You definitely want to pre-register and don't wait until you get to the speedway. If you register at the speedway, expect a wait. I've gone to a few and it's a great event completely organized by volunteers of the Mid Florida Jeep Club. I don't go thinking I'm going to get on the course as there is a huge line and for me, just not worth the wait anymore. It is fun if you can get on though. Tons of vendors and great Jeeps to check out and plenty to do outside the speedway.

It's a much different scene from Jeep Beach 1 where it was held down by Beach Street and there were just a handful of Jeeps.

Went a couple years ago. Was a good time. But there is going to be some line waiting - there are 2-3000 of your closet jeeping rigs and all the people that goes along with that.

I stayed at the Emerald Shores Hotel in Daytona Beach | Daytona Beach Hotels Oceanfront and was nice enough place. On the beech, right next to the host hotel.

But if you arenot a line waiting person - then don't go. But if you do go, buy the cheap raffle tickets - best way to go. Great return on investment there.

The Shores is awesome, you'll like it. The wife and I stayed there two or three summers ago for about a week. It's a nice facility, right on the beach, good food, nice bar, excellent outside bar and pool.

Take a cooler, as I remember it was a hell of a hike to the ice machine!!

Jeep beach is pretty fun, but I think its getting just big enough to be annoying. I was annoyed last year that the Jeep parade was on the track and not on the actual beach (though there were still a lot of Jeeps on the beach) and I'm afraid this year it will have just outgrown Daytona. I hope I'm wrong.

I used to live in Daytona. Only one or two nice hotels. Super ghetto town. Like dangerous in certain spots. South of ISB a bit is usually better if I remember correctly. The O deck is a lot of fun though! Good place to eat and drink. I deff wouldn't make the trip unless I knew my old college buddies were in town. Beach is really hard (obviously so you can drive on it). If you've never been tomdaytona before expect a town that was cool 20 years ago and everyone that lives there are the people who said **** it and stayed around Haha.

I was born and raised in Florida beaches so here's my advice- Wyndham Daytona Beach Ocean Walk. Tampa is where I've lived most of my life, but lived near Daytona Beach in high school. I agree with Captainmoab, Daytona isn't great. However, Wyndham is very nice.

If you don't care about being on the beach, I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn which is actually right next to the racetrack which is very convenient. It was really nice. There is a full kitchen/dining room there with included breakfast if you buy a deal that has it. The chef will make you any kind of omelet you want. :) They didn't give me any crap about using a luggage cart to haul my Jeep doors up to my room either.

Being a local, I would only stay in a few places, The Shores Resort , the Hilton on the beach. And we have a secret place in New Smyna Beach......... the Hampton Inn on Flagler Ave.

Any other place in Daytona is run down dated and disgusting. Take care and see you folks around here in April .
