Jeep Drivetrain warrienty question

Killed the transmission today on my JKU. Pulling in to my parents place and hear a ton of metal grinding noise then nothing.... Automatic so tried putting it in to 1st... nothing, tried 2nd... nothing.... so flashers on and sat for 4 hours while I helped my dad with his house. Tow truck showed up and tried to put it in N.... ya that was not happening. So flatbed and off to the Jeep dealer.

My jeep has a 4 inch lift, 35 inch tires, nothing dont to the gears other upgrades but never regeared it.
I spoke with customer service @ Jeep and I have 4 months left on my power train warrenty. I verified that with the tires and lift it would not effect my warrenty. Called the local Jeep place to come and get it and verified with them the tires and lift would not effect my warrenty....

So my question is... has anyone used their drivetrain warrenty and did they have any fighting with Jeep or dealer due to the 35" tires and a lift? Will this turn in to a nightmare? My Jeep only had 67800 miles on it when this happened. The transmission is trashed.

Well, the dealer could make a case that the bigger tires and even the lift affected the transmission (since all are part of the drivetrain; i.e., the lift affects the pinion angle, IIRC). Honestly, it all comes down to how they're feeling that day. Some dealers will let it slide and repair under warranty; others will be hard-asses, deny your warranty based on the modifications to the drivetrain, and then expect you to pay out of pocket.

That being said, there's a Krispy Kreme location here:

6935 South Lindbergh Blvd.
St. Louis, MO 63125

You might want to go buy a few dozen.

lol Thanks H3br3whamm3r81!

I called them today... they had the tranny off and in parts. Said it was totally "destroyed" and waiting on Chrysler to call them back with if they were going to rebuild it or ship a totally new one...

I'm playing nice with them right now... but did say that with 68000 miles I would hope a new one as Im not really close to 100,000 miles... Not sure how I feel with rebuilt....
