They said they will inspect the tank and everything else while the tank is dropped to eliminate any other possible problems. SO, I should know by the end of the day tomorrow if the fuel pump was the problem. Either way, I am getting a new fuel pump at their expense.

Update!! Fuel pump was the issue

UPDATE!! Just got a call from the dealership and they said it was the fuel pump and does not seem to be acting up now that it is replaced.

I hope and pray that I have no more issues with this thing!

I owned a TJ years ago that ate fuel pumps. The little screen on the bottom of it kept clogging and the pump worked OT until it fried several times. Eventually, the dealer also cleaned the tank that they discovered had residue from assembly in it that kept gumming the screen up. Hopefully they check this for you also. My TJ was new back in 2003. According to Chrysler, this was not uncommon to find crud in new tanks because they often sat for months uncovered before shipped for assembly. Loved that ole girl, but my JK has claimed my heart now.

They inspected the tank thoroughly and had no explanation for the faulty fuel pump. They said the tank and fuel were perfectly clean. I guess I am the unlucky one who got a faulty fuel pump.

Question, not necessarily for the OP.

To test if the MAF is bad can't you just unplug it?

Glad to hear its fixed. I heard that if you always keep your fuel low (say usually around a 1/4 tank) that it can cause your pump to wear faster cause the gas around it helps keep it cool.

Any truth to this?
