Jeep is shaking me crazy! Help

I just got a new 2013 jeep. I had it lifted right away with the following specs:

35x12.5x20 Nitto Trail Grappler MT Tires
Rubicon express 2.5" lift kit w/ Bilstien Monotube Shocks

I expected a better ride! The ride is soo hard! When I hit bumps at low speed the car body just shakes. It's like I'm on a wild shaky roller coster and my Brian is shaking in my head.

Is this common for lift kits? Is it the tires?

Help... Will go see another mechanic tomorrow!

How serious is the shaking?

You might have what many jeep owners call "death wobble"

What kind of air pressure are you running? Sounds like you might be way over-inflated? Most folks with your tire seem to like somewhere around 28-30 psi for on-road. Or, maybe it's just the stiff, "E" rated sidewalls?

If that's not it, have your lift installer check it out.

Tire pressure at 28, do you have dual rate springs? If not you may need to change them out as they may be too stiff for normal driving. Both of those can really affect your ride comfort and road manners. I have a Rock Krawler Stock Mod 2.5 on our 13 jku great ride and performance. Heard good reports on the AEV and Terraflex kits as well.

-Those shocks are known to ride a little harsh especially at first until broke in
Edit: also ... Those shocks may may not be valved correctly for a JK.

-Caster correction (lca's) will help the ride. AEV correction brackets are another idea

Lower tire pressure, put some miles on the shocks. Also, is your shop a reputable off road shop? They may have tightened the bolts on the control arms with the vehicle hanging wich can cause a stiff ride.

This^^

I had the same problem with my lift and the tires inflated to 36 psi, i lowered them to 30 psi and it got rid of the harshness. After I replaced the Tracbar and lower control arms I can now run at 36 psi and its smooth. The angles with get ya!

I honestly think the biggest problem is the fact that you are using 20" wheels on a 35" tire. That small amount of sidewall is going to make you feel every bump compared to a 15,16 or 17". Is there a specific reason you went with 20s? Oh and prepare to get blasted that 20" wheels have no place on a Jeep!!

Yep.
I can run higher psi with the correction brackets. Little less contact patch the tires are not all over the road as much.

It's either going to be your tire pressure, shocks, or springs. 20" inside a 35" won't make you feel every bump unless it's way over inflated.

But yeah you might catch some flack from other members for those 20's. Got any pictures?

Well first you gotta get this guy named brian out of your head, hes probably shaking stuff around in there lmao but in regards to your problem i believe it to be tire psi as well. went from 38 to 33 on the road and man night and day. You wouldnt beleive how much 5 psi makes. btw Those shocks are re labeled bilsteins tuned for your jeep and springs. Also dont fall for progressive rate hoobla its non sense linear springs are great. This is the same kit i will be installing on my jk!

A bit too much exaggeration on my post about every bump but they won't be as comfy as smaller wheels. Too much air pressure sounds like the main culprit. Not sure where you got them but when I got mine from DTD there were aired to the max at like 85 psi. Didn't even realize it until we went for a drive and we were bouncing all over the place!! Like a pogo stick really. It was not good at all. Run at 30psi now and it's all good!

Who's Brian and why is he shaking you head? Seriously, check your tire pressure. I run my Nittos and 27.

Check that the tires are at the correct pressure and your LCAs are torqued properly (with the Jeep on the ground and shaken around before tightening.)

When you have a Brian in your head, you can be sure that there's bound to be so much love, hugs and sloppy wet kisses in the air. Let's face it, your Brian's love is figureatively earth moving that it's literally shaking you and the jeep.

You have to get him out of your head... find him and tell him... tell him that you love him. Pucker your lips, unbutton your shirt, drop your pants and make kissing noises when you do. And do it slowly but wink rapidly. And pelvis thrust back and forth. And moan like a caged animal in heat.

Actually you may need aev brackets. Also, lower the psi down to 25 (hot psi) and if you can, switch over to 17" wheels with 35" tires. More tire means a better sponged ride.

I've tried running my tire at 30psi and it gets worse gas mileage and wore funny on the fronts. Now I run them at 35psi with no issues. I have a e-rated tire.

I got that jarring you described when I would go over bumps and shack the jeep prettty hard awhile back....turns out both my rear shocks had shit the bed and I was pretty much riding on springs.

Thanks everyone!

Okay! I did a couple of things!

1. Figured out I need the Superchip change the tire size and retune the computer
2. Also reduced the Tire pressure
3. Drive around a bit to break in the new Shocks.

Results:
Ride is a whole lot better and more controlled.
Still a little stiff but with 20" rims I guess it's to be expected.
My first wrangler so I don't know all the rules yet! Lol! But my 20s look amazing!
I had already listed them on eBay. But I just canceled the sell!
