I can speak from being on 2 Jeep Jamboree's. The first one I went on was in 1993, and it was the Jeep Jamboree on the Rubicon Trail in Northern California. I was literally a novice, I had never taken my Jeep off road (it was my first Jeep). I can honestly say, that without the spotters and the wonderful people I met, it would have been a waste of money. But it was more than worth it.
Now, I have no idea why I waited 21 years to go on another Jeep Jamboree, but I did, you know kids family etc.. Anyway, last year I went on the Jeep Jamboree in Big Bear and met among other people, Cameron and Randy (Randy was the leader and Cameron was the tail gunner), and to be perfectly honest, I have made two life long friends and had the best time. I have met people who not only love the outdoors, but are just good peeps. So, aside from finding out what your Jeep will do, it's the best way to meet just down to earth folks. EVERYONE, and I mean EVERYONE that was a part of the Jeep Jamboree are just down right good people, they absolutely want to help other people and just be with people who enjoy the Jeep life style. Even the vendors are there just to have fun and help, there was never any push to get you to buy anything.
And I should mention the food, did I say how awesome it was? The Elks Lodge put on the best home made food and lots of it. Now you do need to pack your own lunch, which you eat on the trail, and we stayed at one of the hotels that has a breakfast buffet, well sort of, but it was good enough.
But I really want to stress, that it really is about the friendships that you develop and have with all these people that you meet on one of these Jamboree's. A year later and I am still Jeeping with many of the people we met on the Jamboree, and that is priceless.
Ok, off my soap box... sorry for the sappy response.
