jeep jk

Hello everybody I own a 2008 JK 2dr rubicon (automatic) and Saturday I took it out on a backroad to play a little and when I went to take it out of 4wd it did nothing. Like the lever that goes down and I'm assuming connects to transfer case is not connected anymore so now it's in 4wd all the time.

This has happend in my truck before and I got down underneath and the rod had just slipped off the bushing that's on the transfer case.

I got down underneath my JK and nothing seems out of place I tried to reach all the way up where the shifter comes down and I really didn't feel anything. I'm starting to wonder if the cable just snapped or came off right below the dash (center console). It's going in to the shop in the morning which is about 20 miles away I was just going to see if anybody has had this problem or is there away I can just get underneath it and manually shift it back to 2wd.

Thanks

I believe the cable only has 2 connections, at the transfer case end and at the shifter/console end.

You've say you verified that it is still connected at the transfer case, so either it has come off at the shifter end or the cable broke in the middle which is unlikely.

Can you grab the metal handle that is connected to the transfer case and move it that way back into 2wd?

When I get home today my buddy is coming over that has the exact same jeep and we are going to get underneath his when his is shifting it in and out of 4wd to see which direction we need to go with mine.

Yea I agree I don't think the cable broke I just think it came lose from the top side at the shifter. I hope because I have a big ride this wknd and I'm not waiting on a part. Ha
