Jeep Keys

I have a 2012 Wrangler Sport Unlimited. I went to one of the local dealerships ( VA Beach, VA)in order to acquire additional keys, I didn't want the three button fob, just a simple key for door and ignition. The parts man said that they didn't make a simple key (a lie) and a new fob key would be $156 plus $60 to program it, but that he could make a key that would open the door, but that the key couldn't be used to start the engine. I didn't know about the Sentry system at this time, and told the parts man I would be back after I got a second mortgage or bank loan to pay for the keys.
After researching this site and some other Jeep web sites I purchased two transponder keys from Cycle Sport & Fitness (Cycle Sport & Fitness. Bikes, Exercisers & Fitness Equipment) for $17.88 each. A local locksmith cut the keys for $2.00 each and I programmed them as explained in the owner's manual.
I have done some further research and have found some better pricing. I found a link to a STRATEC catalogue at (http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=y164-pt&source=web&cd=12&ved=0CDYQFjABOAo&url=http%3A%2 F%2Faftermarket.strattec.com%2Fdocs%2F2012%2520Com prehensive%2520Catalog.pdf&ei=h-R5T9L0CqOG2gXpg_S1Bg&usg=AFQjCNFxvn3YWWnAr2pfLsgLH Ui3tVOJjg). Wrangler 1998-2012 products can be found on page 26. On the extreme right in the table you will see a column labeled EZ#. This EZ# is a universal number and if you do a simple Google search with just that EZ#, many sites can be found that sell keys for less than Cycle Sport & Fitness.
Exmples as follow:

http://mysecuritypro.com/chryslery164-ptkeyblanks.aspx
https://www.keyblankdepot.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=JMA3185
Best price I have found so far:

Hope this is useful to all.

You can get a simple key made at Lowes that will fit the door/glove box, and rear tailgate. i got one done.

But you can't for the ignition. If you use the so called simple key in the ignition it will start then shut back off in I think 5 seconds. The Key has a security chip in it and only keys with the security chip will work. There is a place online that sells these pretty cheap. You can program the key yourself as long as you already have 2 keys already with programmed chips. If you only have one, you have to have the dealership or a locksmith program the second key for you.

I have the sentry system and got two keys with the jeep. I bought the stratec rock keys and programmed them per owners manual, no problem.
