I wouldn't worry as much about the mileage as much as the mantenance history. The other factor would be price.
I was looking at used jeeps for a while before I decided to buy new. I didn't feel comfortable spending 13- 15k for an 8 yr old vehicle.
One thing for sure, if you buy it, you will not have a problem selling it...the used jeep market is hot.

Agreed with rutoehead, the biggest thing on any vehicle over 100,000 miles is how well they were taken care of.

I'd have someone you trust take a look at the Jeep prior to purchasing. Or ask the dealer for a "mechanics rider" if you choose to buy. That is a contract that will allow you to have 3-7 days (typically) to have an independent shop take a look at the Jeep. If major problems are found, you have the ability to return the Jeep back or the dealer fixes the issue.

If it checks out mechanically and you like it...make them an offer. All they can say is no.

That's a high mileage Jeep. It has over 15K per year average and a good percentage of JKs aren't driven even the standard 12K allowance due to fuel economy, noise, they are a weekend toy, etc. I would say keep looking unless it's exactly what you want and you get him below $11k.

As private sellers we always think our vehicles are worth more than they really are. Check your local listings. A sale by pp should be $1500-2000 less than dealer because they offer zero warranty, inspection, reputation, etc.

This is very true. I'll also add that modifications to a vehicle do not add value to said vehicle. So if the seller is trying to use this as leverage for a price over blue book value kindly remind them of this.

Not only do mods not add to a vehicle they can SUBTRACT from the asking price too. Especially if they guy put a junk 3-4" lift that causes the Jeep to drive like garbage. Be cautious on a Jeep with 100k+ miles that the guy is trying to sell on his own. He may have attempted to trade it in for a new ride and dealers wouldn't offer him nearly what he's asking. Good luck!
