Jeep "Scrambler Package" & Pics

My wife spotted this at a local dealer and sent me the pics. My two-year-old son has informed me that this is my "next" jeep.

I thought everyone would appreciate the pics. The "Scrambler Package" adds a rather astonishing $22k to the price, bringing the total to just a few bucks shy of $50k!

The more I see the JK8s, the more I kinda like them. But holy &#$! at that price. And WTF at that grill!

My dealer sells the kit to convert a Jeep to the 'pickup' version. Retails for around $7K. So I guess another $15K for the extras?

I love Wranglers but that looks horrible. It reminds me of a Datsun pickup truck. Blah!!!

I think the retail on the JK8 kit is more like $5500. See here.

Regardless, in addition to the conversion, I see--at a minimum--front/rear bumpers, a winch, new wheels/tires, sliders, a lift, flat flares, some awful grille thing, and a bedlined bed. Quite a few extras in addition to the JK8 conversion, but I'm confident they aren't doing you any favors at $22k.

Still, this is actually the first one that I've seen that I kind of like. If it had different wheels/tires and dropped the grille monstrosity, I'd think it'd be pretty cool. But $50k would get a big "no-go" from me.

I was thinking the dealer advertised it at $6995, but perhaps I was confused. LOL

Either price, it still isn't for me.

What does baffle me is Jeep will build and sell these but they won't build and sell a Wrangler based pickup!

Yes, THAT is the AEV Brute Double Cab. (See here.) And in addition to the cool pickup conversion, it's also actually been lengthened and has a Hemi among other AEV goodies. Now THAT is awesome. Though I'd expect the price tag would be . . . well . . . equally awesome.

And just think what you can get if you drop that 50K at this dealer for one.

Just saw one at a local dealer - not a big fan in person.

I'll pass. If I need a pick up I'll go for the Dodge Ram extended cab with a Hemi.

They look cool, maybe even cute as Jimbo puts it! But that's about it. 2 seat pickup with 4' bed and 0 tow capacity?

Chevy tried with the Avalance.
Subaru with the Baja.
VW had some marginal success in the 70's with them.

The migi-bed pickup luxury touring car truck family bachelor vanmobile thing just never took hold in the USA.

I think it's because we make trucks, real trucks that pull heavy things and carry tons of weight.
