I have scratches on my jeep. They're not deep, just have a line with paint removed. Want to fix them (yes more than one ) extremely bad. Bought touch up paint at the jeep dealership and that didn't help too much. The color was right but it's so hard to work with the touch up paint because it's so watery. I've looked at kits to thicken the touch up paint but I'm also not a professional. What do you guys do with your scratches? Ya I know I won't take care of all the scratches. My friends just tell me it adds character to your vehicle. But I also don't want to be driving a POS. Now I'm being dramatic...but it's probably just me who sees the scratches all the time because I love my jeep lol.
The darker the color the harder it is to touch up the paint unless it's on the clear coat. The exception is the stock black top which you can touch up with a Sharpie. Touching it up can draw even more attention to the scratch. The more exposed the paint is exposed to the Sun UV rays the more it changes the color so the factory touch up kit doesn't match.
The are brands of colored polish/wax that can help blend out the scratch and make it less noticeable. Other than that find a really skilled paint guy that is willing to take the time and demand and arm in exchange.
I definitely can relate. On my black JKU I have quite a few long but thin scratches from branches dragging along the side.
A good hard wax makes them quite a bit less noticeable and also helps somewhat with preventing more since it will take some of the punishment rather than the paint taking it. Best to try not to be overly concerned about scratches; more are on the way unless you park it in the garage and cover it and that is likely not what you bought the Jeep to do.
Yea my jeep doesn't get to go in the garage yet. I live in an apartment and my jeep is red so the scratches look white. But my other concern is that I want to cover up the scratches to prevent rust. Because places that aren't painted will rust. But then again they're not huge scratches. Also my concern for rust is because I live in a beach town and the sea salt air and sand is everywhere. So I'm constantly spraying the jeep down to keep her in good shape
The scratches on the sides of my Jeep are so numerous that I'm just going to do a rattle-can paint job soon. It won't look as good, but it'll be easy to fix and a flat color won't reflect the sun into my eyes. If you didn't want to go that far you could always keep some touch-up paint in your glovebox and fix scratches as they happen.
I have had some good results with Turtle Wax Clear Coat repair. My JK is black and I've found that most scratches that are white are only in the surface clear coat. Putting touch up paint on sits on the surface and doesn't look right. I was amazed the first time I used the clear coat repair. It's clear and as you apply it, the white disappears and the underlying body color comes back. Worth a try.

McGuires also make some good products with their 105 cutting compound and their 205 polishing compound. When you use the 105, followed by the 205 and then some wax, you can seriously reduce, if not eliminate, scratches from your vehicle. A good coat of wax goes a long way to protecting your rig while on the trails as well.
If the scratches aren't too serious, you can purchase a kit from 3M that works rather well against scratches.
