"Jeep, Since 1941" inlay on passenger grab handle

I am wanting to replace the inlay on the passenger grab handle with one that just says "RUBICON". Anyone know where I may find this?

Thanks

I know they changed the way the grab handle fits on the 2011. I am not sure any manufacture has started making any just for that model. On a side note there is a whole lot of pre 2011 that would love to be able to use yours.

take the original to a machine shop that does billet work, or a company that makes billet wheels and they should be able to cut you one out of billet aluminum

Check mopar, I know they have a trim kit for the interior including the grab handle but it might still be inscribed.

link...no pictures for it though

Minimum for a small job shop and a one off piece would be minimum $600-1000. That piece is arched, needs to be machined 4 sides, and engraved with use from a CAM system first. Every dimension from the stock part needs to be hand measured and put into their CAM software, then the planning can begin. Plus most job shops are so backed up that small jobs are either turned away or made to wait.

Now, I might be willing to do a group buy if the OP visits a shop with a large request. I am way too busy at my shop to make them, or I could probably swing that job for much less. Any other forum members got a 3 axis in their garage collecting dust? A proto-trac mill could do it.

Hmm. Maybe if I show our machinist when i see him...It doesn't seem easy. But he has a CNC. I'll draw it up in AutoCAD later and send it to him...

If you draw it up in autoCAD, surfcam, mastercam, you will definately save the machinist some time. Just use a post processor to convert the correct G-code to the type of control he has. Fanuc, Fadal, Haas, Okuma..etc.

I would hold that billet in three 8" Kurt Vises then use a 3 axis mill to make the arch. It can be kellered in with a 1/4 ball endmill easy.

I think it's a good idea. Wish I had time for the G-job.

There's a company making these...

Carolina Metal Masters

They make a machined aluminum grab handle.

Link: JK Grab Bar | Carolina Metal Masters

I talked to Brian at Carolina Metal Masters yesterday (888-215-3815) and they can do custom machining and colors.

And you can get it with a 1" diameter ball to use with Ram Mounts.

I've seen the passenger grab handle wrapped in paracord that looked pretty neat!

Question

Dan, do you know if the ball-ended bolts are something Carolina Metal Masters sells alone? I really like that Ram Mount for attaching an iDevice, but I also really like my stock '14 JK grab bar...

Or maybe there's another source for just the ball to screw into the existing left grab handle hole?

Nice stuff but a little pricey.

Seems like the sort of application that a 3d printer would be perfect for, if anyone is set up to do that?

The 2012 and up are different than the 2011 and previous. The screw you see on the sides is for dress, it doesn't hold anything. You can use a body pry and pull the faceplate and screws off in one piece.
