I just looked up my '12 on the safercar.gov website and the recall for the passenger side airbag was just posted on July 1st.

SAFETY RISK:

IN THE EVENT OF A FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATOR RUPTURE, METAL FRAGMENT(S) COULD PASS THROUGH THE AIRBAG CUSHION MATERIAL, WHICH MAY RESULT IN ADDITIONAL INJURY OR DEATH TO VEHICLE OCCUPANTS.
REMEDY:

THE PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATOR MUST BE REPLACED.
RECALL STATUS:

Recall INCOMPLETE. Remedy not yet available

I went to the dealer for something else this morning, they noticed the recall on my JK from the system and now it is in to have the passenger airbag replaced...

Pretty sure you can just call up your local dealer for this. When I called, they said it would take a week for the parts to come in. They'll shuttle me to and from work for my inconvenience

Right, I got it back, they haven't done anything for the airbag, ''no available part'' written on my sheet.

Took mine in this morning for the clock spring recall thing and something about tow bar recall. When i got there they informed me about the passenger side airbag and then informed me there were no parts available. They also have no idea when said parts will be available.

So I called Jeep today, stated some of this before but it gets longer. Airbag most likely not working, had to disconnect the horn to shut it off, cruise out but not a safety issue, windshield wipers not working, no control of headlights, turn signals not working. All things on the steering column knocked out by the bad clock spring, Jeep tells me I have to wait to gt the recall paper and them wait my turn in line to get it fixed, I told them to buy their POS back. This is not a safe vehicle to drive, might have to get tags back on the Chevy Monday. Jeep didn't seem to give a shit the vehicle is unsafe. This is my first and most likely last Jeep, was really starting to like the Ram trucks too but I'm not going near anything FCA makes again based on how they handle issues with customers.

Rant over!

Checked out a car here in Sweden Iīm interested in, and there are 3 recalls on that car. 1 for the tow bar, 1 for the clock spring and the last for the passanger side airbag.

So itīs not only US cars thatīs affected, this is all over the world! :/

Not sure what year your JK is, but with t that bad I'd bite the bullet, order one off Amazon and either install it yourself or get them to do it. Keep the receipts and ask for reimbursement via FCA's website, www.fcarecallreimbursement.com .

I register all my vehicles on MyCarfax.com Punch in the Vin and it helps you keep track of maintenance and inspections.

If a dealer participates, which many of them do, when you get your oil changed the updated service shows in your "garage"

has a nice Dashboard feature that shows you all your vehicles.

Gives you recall notifications, and when a new recall is posted you get an email.

I just got the one a few weeks ago about the clock spring, so when i got the message today my mind saw "airbag" and I dismissed it as a duplicate notification.

Then I came in here, saw this, and went back. Here is the email I got, but go get MyCarfax.com. totally free..

Got my Clock spring recall 1st letter in the mail today, said a follow up letter will start the process, I'm gonna leave this letter in the glove box when I drop the jeep off tomorrow and pick up my 2016 Ram crew cab Hemi. The parts department was no help, service said they could do nothing and Jeep didn't seem to care, the dealer was cool and offered me almost what I paid a year and a half ago for it! Problem solved.

IDK if it has been posted yet but, you can log on (or sign up) to moparowners.com and input your vin and personal info. That's the easiest way to get recalls and stay updated on them in my opinion.
I got both recall messages there, clock spring and pass airbag inflator, but there is no current fox for the second one (part not available anyway)

Dang, another one.

Well, we're sitting on three recalls right now. My wife's 2003 2500 has already had the passenger airbag replaced once under recall, but they used old stock, so it's due again. Same for her 300. I have been meaning to get my YJ in for a long overdue recall on the parking brake (yea, it pops off and rolls away if not in gear), and now we will be getting one for the JK. I wonder if my 2001 2500 is next?

I guess it's time for me to get serious and start getting vehicles into the dealer for those recalls. But, I don't plan on having an accident........

ETA - after going through the stack of recall notices, it appears that there are actually 2 recalls open on the 300; one for the passenger airbag inflator (16V-352) and one for the driver side (15V-313). And, we got the one for our JK - 16V-352. Man, what a stack! Must get busy.

2011 JKU recall

I hate to take my Jeep to the dealer for anything. I enjoy my Jeep but I have ZERO confidence in their maintenance.

I received the notice in the mail. They said they don't have the part and will contact me when they do...whenever that may be. I did the vin search on my 09 rubicon and did it not come up. should i have it replaced anyways when the 'have' the part?

My local dealer got my hopes up last week when he said that the part was available to order, so he ordered one for me. When the part came in, he said the box had the right part number on it, but when he opened it up, it was the wrong part. It sounded too good to be true, and of course was exactly that. So here I wait with everyone else.

I just got my notice on the airbag recall yesterday. My neighbor has a BMW SUV (not sure the model) She got the same recall last week. She said she's on a waiting list for parts also and that almost every automaker has the same recall so parts are backlogged. I remember hearing about this airbag recall awhile ago, I guess they keep finding more models that used that particular brand airbag.

We have a 2015 GMC truck, a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 2006 Infiniti G35 so I wonder if any of those will get the notice too? My G35 may be too old, I'm not sure how far back this recall goes.

Don't count on it. My wife's 2003 Ram 2500 has TWO outstanding airbag recalls now. Passenger and Driver side. Just gotta get the time to take it to the dealer. Again. The passenger side had already been replaced once - but they determined that Takata had not materially improved the igniter beyond its original design.

Oh, well I'll keep an eye out for the notice I guess. What a pain We got a notice yesterday to have the hitch on our 2015 GMC checked for stress cracks! They say after long periods of towing they have reports of some hitches showing cracks. Of course this comes the week before we hook up the JKU and head to the Dusy, lol. My husband said he may be upset if he sees my Jeep pass us on the highway I told him to take it in Monday since I'm pretty sure the insurance money wouldn't cover what I've got invested

I got my airbag recall last week. It says if the airbag is deployed the inflator can rupture...
With that said, I can't let anyone ride in the passenger seat, so I can't use this vehicle as I want to?? For how f...ing long? SUX!

Wonder if this hairline crack on my dashboard is related to the passenger airbag recall? I think it's odd to have a crack in this location when that area has never been touched.

Has anyone been affected by trying to trade in their 2007 thru 2012 wranglers only to find out the dealer wont take them? They stated about not being able to resell them due to liability?

Well, I received my “Passenger Airbag Inflator” recall letter today … I’m not happy.

My wife got the same recall letter from Toyota for her Matrix, that was in July 2015, 13 months ago. Toyota’s letter states that no one should sit in the passenger seat until the airbag is replaced. That basically makes the Matrix a single seater. Although the FCA letter doesn’t talk about not using the passenger seat, I can’t see myself driving with family sitting there so the Jeep is now also basically a single seater.
Like Antenna_X says, I also was told dealers won’t take the Matrix on a trade in because they can’t resell them. I assume it’s the same for the Jeep now.

I hope FCA moves quickly on this but I’m far from holding my breath. I will be calling FCA regularly, the squeaky wheel thing ...

This one had 24,000 miles on it when I got it, about 28,000 now and I haven't had any problems. Can I go to a dealer and get service records?
