Play nice now..

Hey SOLIDAXLE, Just wondering I know sand wheeling is pretty big in the middle east.. I mean there's a whole lot of sand lol.. Any other kinds of wheeling out there as well for you guys? I also know you were trying to decide whether to buy a yota or jeep.. Did you ever buy either one.. Im still hoping you buy/bought the jeep but knew you were trying to decide some time back on what you wanted..

I don't want to start a different debate , how ever just to let you know , i have encountered many locals and they are very nice people , not everyone is perfect , you will find good people and bad people every were .

I don't like to judge people based on an incorrect stereotype , specially those who i have not met and i hope you do the same .

Hey XJ Knight ,

their sure is a whole lot of sand , their also is some rocky terrain depending were you are in the region and as per usual the locals will try their best to climb / go over any obstacle they can find !

Many westerners live over their and they are also into motor sports involving the sand and off roading in general . Their is a huge ATV/Quadbiking scene over here .

I decided to buy a toyota as it suits the location i am in , easy to maintain , little to go wrong and if anything does go wrong i can easily find spare parts . They also keep their value well and are wanted by the locals , so if i ever decide to sell my toyota for a jeep , i can easily do so with no trouble

Sorry but respect is earned! I know all are not bad we even have Texans that are bad. But the ones I seem to encounter dont do anything to prove their stereotype wrong. If they want to drive Toys in the sand so be it, I personally dont care, would rather see us all buy American myself.

My recomendation though is to start a thread and post them in the pictures section of the forum.. Will keep people from jumping all over you for posting your yota sand wheeling pics in the tech sections.. If you go wheeling with any jeeps feel free to post pics of them to lol.. Being a jeep forum and all

I was thinking it might be fun to do a raid on a toyota forum. Those that game know what I'm talking about. I never considered it until now. Be super polite, profess love for everything but just show pictures of Jeeps and favorable Jeeps specs like approach, departure,GC, articulation, removable top and customization.

If were only talking current model year.. the wrangler really is in it's own league.. no one with any knowledge of the streetable offroad vehcile market can argue with that.. Really as far as competion goes the WK2 would be what you would compare to the land crusier.. they are whats comprable to each other..

You would jump in here on this thread. Hold on, I'll get another frappacino for you ... my Hennessy from last night may be a bit too taut.

But, I'll still hit Moab with you ... and, I'll even bring the Hennessy.

Besides, you're the only Yota' guy I know that gets "it" ... maybe because of all the Jeeps you've had (should've never sold the Wrangler!).

you know I got nothing but love for ya', bro!

You guys might as well compare Harleys with regular road bikes.

Wrangler is built for off road angles etc, I am surprised the LC is even made anymore with the price of gas.

Would have been nice if the 200LC was compared to the Grand Cherokee.

Death Wobble all the way!!

Same goes for the 100 series .

They prefer to use Toyota's over the g wagon , land rovers , mainly due to their reliability and the fact that parts are widely available . In second place comes the Nissan Patrol , it is also widely used but not as much as the Land Cruiser which has earned its place in the region . Not to mention it is by far the most sold SUV / 4x4 of any kind in the gulf .

a few pictures

Sorry - I don't recognize any of the militaries in those pics ... sure must be a whole lot of militaries using the 200 series based on them, though.

Bottom line is the newer LCs are support vehicles at best. They have some decent off-road spec for what they are (great write-up in Overland Journal an issue or two ago), but they aren't a HD off-road vehicle. Military parades, police cars, and a bunch guys playing in the sand dunes do not constitute heavy duty use.

But I digress ... UpHillBill is right, it's a Jeep forum and I'm done talking toys!

My JK is better than any of them.

As for armoring ... G-wagons are big in that, as well.

Perhaps the OP just isn't in a position to truly understand what an American icon and symbol of pride the Jeep is to many of us.

Especially those, like me, who grew up in the post WWII era, when all the parent generation were veterans of WWII, many of the pacific theater. I remember very clearly the hate (there is no way to soften it, it was pure hate) many, especially combat vets of the Pacific theater, felt toward the Japanese. Modern PC niceties don't allow the younger generations to know the shear cruelty and evil (by Western standards) widely practiced by Japanese troops. Most people wouldn't think of buying a Japanese vehicle back then. Heck, our only local garage wouldn't work on Japanese cars because of the owners experience in the Pacific.

Yeah, that was a long time ago, but Jeep is still a symbol of all that to lots of old f@rts, like me. Don't like it? Tough.

No, I'd keep the LC for my wife and build a bad ass Jeep rig for myself with the money I'd save with having a free vehicle.....

Couldn't disagree more. Haven't been in one I was impressed with, ridiculous over price unconsidered
