I got one for my first car and it is very safe. I think its safe to say that it is not easy to tip, I have done a lot of things in the jeep I probably shouldn't do and it has not tipped yet.

I wish very much that I had had a Wrangler at that age. That being said, I loved the 1994 Chevy Cavalier that became mine when I received my license in 97'. It was newish, my mom had driven it before me, so it was clean, and it gave me the freedom I thought I wanted.

I wrecked that beautiful, little blue car one year to the day after I started driving. It was a foggy day, and I was turning left out the high school parking lot. I never even saw the Chevy Lumina that hit my passenger side so hard that the engine mounts broke. Everyone was ok in this accident.

When my wife and I have a 16 year old, I will be sending him or her out in a newish, clean automobile, that is safe. I think that a 2008 Wrangler fits that bill. Just be as careful as life lets you be, hope that your parents are understanding when you make mistakes, and respect the awesome power or the road. I consider myself a pretty good driver. To date, I have never had a speeding ticket, and that was the last car accident I have been in.

Good luck!

I think that a wrangler is a great first car, I am 18 years old and I was able to get my full license at 17, since then my first car was a 2004 Infiniti G35x, thing was fast and being a new driver you just want to go fast, just how teenagers think, my brother bought that off me 3 months after getting it and I bought my first wrangler, it was a 1997 4.0 auto, bought it for $4000 and it was a POS, but I did all of the work to it myself and it just teaches you to care for your things when having to buy it yourself (which your daughter isn't but oh well), but owning the jeep made me definitely slow down a bit, I went from being a left lane 70+ mph driver to a right lane 55-60mph driver and accelerate nicely to try to save gas (since I paid for the jeep, the gas, and the insurance myself), I currently have a 1999 wrangler now, but the whole point is that your daughter will love having the wrangler, pretty much anyone who owns one does, it's just part of the disease we all call "jeep ownership", once a jeeper, always a jeeper
