Jeep Wrangler in Swimming Pool

I found this on Houston Jeep People website from a member. This is a pure WTF moment.
Here was the owner's quote on what happened "was gonna start it up to warm it(standing next to it) it was in GEAR! it took off rolled over my leg-pushed my3/4 ton dodge out of the way and in she went.was still runnin when i jumped in to kill it.changes all fluids, took it for a ride with my life jacket"

That's a YJ. But the flares (if that's what you mean by turns) to look like TJ.

Thanks XJ Knight for the link to the background story. Some of us who stay strictly in the JK forum are the last ones to hear about TJ and CJ mishaps.

You have to venture into other threads. Don't stay close-minded about Wranglers and CJ's, there are always useful and interesting posts there.

...so much for the much touted 'floatation style tires'....

Ah. Well if the dodge was in the way.. Why isn't it in the pool? And if it was in gear wouldn't the e brake stop it? Wouldnt the dodges brake (or parking gear) stop it? I agree. It seems unlikely.

ive seen him here on the forum before..i think he wanted to wash his jeep and just got lazy and pulled into the pool =p ....plus why is it perfectly centered in the pool? id think at a rolling speed the front tires would have went in and the jeep woulda tipped over..just wierd

It never said the dodge was in gear, it said the Jeep was in gear. You can easily leave a standard in neutral without applying the park brake. As to why it's not in the pool, ever heard of turning your wheels and parking? Crazier stuff has happened than this..It is improbable but not impossible.

leave a standard in neutral with out the parking brake? is your jeep a stick? go park it on a hill in neutral with no parking brake and see what happens lol dont know anyone who parks a stick in neutral with no ebrake lol

Flat ground, who needs a parking brake? Who said anything about a hill? Good grief. Ya no crap you can't park on a hill with it in neutral. I park my Jeep everyday without an e brake and I leave it in neutral...it's not rocket science...

You may be on to something here, a possible hoax. We need a physicist here to calculate the speed needed for the jeep to clear the pool edge and plunge entirely in, without getting stuck nor scraping or chipping the concrete.

It happened, and his Jeep has large enough tires and a good enough departure/break over angle that it cleared the side of the pool.

Although I wouldn't mind seeing some pics of his place and the path it took.
