I love the love of the MW3 edition. It's the perfect flagship Jeep. However, I just can't get past the video game aspect. You're driving a billboard for a video game. The game will come and go, The Jeep is here forever.
What will they think of next? Perhaps they should make an edition associated with a pair of jeans!

Funny, I was wondering what Calvin Klein had to do with it. Off Topic. Back to Call of Duty. I'd rock the Call of Duty no matter what it's packaged with. They made the interior only slightly branded. At least it's only MW3 in the seat.

Ive explained to her til im in the face that its not because of the MW3 badges and Logos that I want it...its the config...6 Speed Manual Trans, Tube Bumpers, Winch Kit, Rock Rails, Dual Top, Decent Audio, Blacked out Wheels, Skid Plates 3 Inch Lift (some dealer customization here on top of the package) I Have driven it..and by god it prowls it doesn't drive.. I have priced out Rubi's that match the same specs and it comes in at $47k and she said and I quote Id rather spend that then be embarassed to drive around in a Video Game car.. did I miss something? I know I can take off exterior badges, buy seat covers and replace floor mats...

Thoughts?
My first comment is irrelevant, but (sorry) I agree with the wifey about the video game car. But that's just my own personal taste. If you want that badging, you should diplomatically keeep after it if possible. However, if you really don't want the video game badging, you probably can do better by just getting a Rubi.

Some of the things you mentioned:

* 6 Speed Manual Trans: Comes std on a Rubi.

* Rock Rails: You can do much better for not much money, e.g., Smittybilt, ACE.

* Skid Plates 3 Inch Lift (some dealer customization here on top of the package): I don't know what all this means, but there are skid plates stock on the Rubi. It's only relevant if you wheel it fairly hard, and most who do that add to/replace some/all of those. So unless the COD:MW3 comes with some really fancy HD skids, I don't think this is much, if any advantage. Most people on here like to carefully select their own lift and are happy they did.

* Tube Bumpers; Winch Kit, etc. The COD:MW3 bumpers look like a pretty good upgrade over stock, but not as good as about 35 other options out there.

* Dual Top: Does this really cost more on a Rubi?

* Decent Audio: Different than Rubi's?

* Blacked out Wheels: Are you going to want to put bigger ties on that thing? If so, depending on what you want, you may need/want wider rims. If not, I think you can powdercoat your Rubi rims for pretty little $. If that COD one comes with a genuine 3" lift and stock tires, doesn't that look a little disproportionate?

If you do get a Rubi, you can unload your five stock rims and tires for about $750 if you take them off right away. Then, that can help you out with the new bigger/fancier ones.

Agree on the comments above about wife vs. particular Jeep. But I'm also kind of biased in favor of her preference. Now, if she asked you to get some less-capable vehicle, I'd try to work through that. But she's not saying that. She just doesn't want to have to insist on driving her nonvideo-game car every time you guys go out somewhere together in public. I'm not saying she's right or wrong, but she obviously feels that way. If you get the Rubi (esp. if you put some manly tires, wheels, bumpers, etc ..), she'll probably proudly want you to drive her around. Yeah, I know we're all supposed to love each other only for what's on the inside, etc ... But her concern possibly is similar to how you would feel if she dressed in some kind of way that was really embarrassing to you when you go out together, as opposed to something that's really hot, but right for the circumstance.

Anyway, hope it works out one way or the other.

Just my $0.02.

FWIW, I did pull the badging off the sides. Other than ordering the antenna thru antennax that was the first thing I did. I didn't want anything on the outside so all badging came off. Would have done the same with any other jeep I bought as well.

Outa the box, its hard to beat : D
Other than the actuall badges and logos, the Rubis have all of that for much less. I can't see paying 47 THOUSAND for a Jeep with aftermarket mods that probably can either be added to a sport for under $5K and still come out under the price of a fully loaded Rubi. The money saved will buy her that nice ring, or a decent "man cave". LOL

I think that most of the folks who do the MW3 are the same ones who wouldn't install the parts themselves anyways, so it's not like they're getting ripped off. Pat has posted the prices a million times. Measured up, it looks like the MW3 is only maybe a grand or so over buying the parts yourself. Face it, most of the folks on here have probably spent more than that on labor bringing it to a shop. If it's not for you fine. All in all, I think the Rubi is a waste of money, but I also know I'll be replacing the wheels and regearing anyways, so the money spent on those is lost. Only real advantage is the transfer case, and I guess factory lockers. Oh, and the dana44. So yeah, Modded sport vs modded rubi, I'll do the sport thanks. No reason to get uppity at someone who just wants a modded rubi from the factory, especially those of you who spring the extra for the rubi anyways. Badging is dumb, but oh well. So is the yeti badging, hardly see anyone ragging on them!

My 2012 Rubicon JK is in and I'm picking it up tomorrow. I had the choice at the time of ordering to go with the MW3 but honestly... I agree with your wife. It's a video game jeep. I am a video gamer, but I wouldn't feel "cool" driving around in that. I bought a Jeep, now a video game bulletin board.

If you like it more power to you, everyone is different.

I agree to a point. I wouldn't want a Call of Duty video-game Jeep, but I might want a video-game edition Jeep if it was the just right game. For example, who wouldn't want a CMFS Limited Edition Rubicon? That would be bad a##!

So here is my thinking and why I bought this Jeep. I do like to do things myself but don't have a lot of time (I am a doc and have 3 kids). I priced it out myself as Pat has done on here for you all and the pricing worked out. I did not pay MSRP at all so the price was great (I got it through Fields in Florida). Yes, I do like to play video games, including MW3 among others when I have a chance, but that is not really why I got this. I got it because it had everything on it I wanted all from the factory. My wife saw one at our local dealership and told me she liked it the best. She didn't even want to look at other ones. ;-) Done and done. I will do some little things, but not a whole Jeep build, so this saved me a ton of time and effort.

Responses I have gotten from this Jeep. Multiple people who don't game have seen it and come up to me to ask me about it. They just think it is a "high end special edition Jeep.". They see Call of Duty and associate it with military and Jeep's tough nature. No problem with it.

People who know the game, love it! They think it is great.

Only one guy has laughed at me for it and he told me that that was because he played Battlefield and thought COD sucked. Oh well, you can't win 'em all. :-)

Mine is #938/3500.

I stll don't get it. $47 is just ridiculous and I know many are saying well they don't mod and don't want to so it is convenient but really, you can buy a new Jeep and drop it off at any good off road shop and they can mod it in a few days a lot better for a lottttt less and you still don't have to mod it yourself. Shoot, you can get a loaded AEV modded Jeep for that price.

I know that my opinion but still don't see it

Well, I'm a 41 year old gamer and Director of Security in Northern Virginia and built my own version of the MW3 JK for a couple grand in parts:-) I love it. The lights are surprisingly functional on back roads out in BFE in the middle of the night. It's...well....unique.

I skipped the winch....no "poser" need for it. Ha ha ha...

My Jeep + parts was about $38500 total money spent.

If I had paid 47K+ I would totally agree, but paid nowhere near that. ;-). And I looked into the AEV mod too, and no it would have actually cost me more.

Wouldn't it be easier to just live in Virginia? You can legally drive around with guns in your military Jeep here.

Put down the video game and pick up a wrench. No better way to learn about your vehicle than turning your own wrenches. Rubi and pick out exactly what you want to add.

I just brought mine home last night. Was a little concerned about the longevity of the MW3 nestalgia, but ever since I got in it I've been laughing at all the other Jeeps I see on the road.
OP: My wife was a bit on the fence, so I decided that it was going to be for us, which worked in my favor! Couldn't be more satisfied about the MW3 package. To all the nay-sayers: go drive one.

why would you laugh at other jeeps? you are the only one with a modern warfare logo on yours if anything that would be the one reason people would laugh at and you say "go drive one" you act like it's totally different than any other Jeeps on the road.. Don't wanna be a party pooper, but having a Jeep associated with a video game is the stupidest thing Jeep has ever done. All you have is a Jeep that has a game logo on a rubi package plus a winch(not that it's bad, but like all other above me say.. it would better if you modded yourself instead of some package deal like the black ops wrangler/mw3 wrangler..

I bought the black ops because i liked it. It was only about $1000 more than a standard rubi and with the usaa deal I paid $31,000 out the door. I had the stickers removed before i left the dealer, didn't care about the game, it just happened to be the color and style i wanted. As for mods, the black ops didn't come with alot. Bumpers, rims, lift, and skids I paid for and installed myself. With maybe 3 minor mods that the black ops came with it was hardly a package deal.

Isn't the purpose of the forum here to be a possitive environment for people with a common interest (in this case Jeep Wrangler) to provide knowledge and support for that interest? I just don't see the point in bashing one model or style for any reason. One of the things that drew me to the wrangler was being able to customize it to how I saw fit. To this extent, the MW3 version suited my style and taste in the same way that running around with mud all over a vehicle, customizing to no end, or leaving a vehicle bone stock is to others. So... everyone can laugh from their own perspective, its what makes us unique.
To Jeep's defense, they have determined that they can attract new customers by utilizing a unique marketing strategy, which is not something that is common in the gaming or the auto industry. Kudo's for them for figuring out how to boost their orders.
Jeep on Garth.
