I just spent last week down in the Outer Banks in North Carolina. We had a blast, per the usual, but this year was a little different. It was my first beach trip after taking delivery of my 2014 Wrangler and I have to say, wranglers are made for the beach!

We were topless every day that wasn't raining and took the doors off for a trip up to Carova Beach. (Carova Beach is the northernmost part of the Outer Banks and is known for having no paved roads)

Anyways, we took a whole bunch of pictures and I thought I'd share some of my favorites with you guys. After all I first read about Carova Beach here on the forums!

Getting ready to head out!

Thanks! We usually stay down in Kill Devil hills or Nags head. After this trip we're definitely considering staying in Duck or Corolla.

Great pics! We are out in the OBX every year. We stay in Kitty Hawk. For the past 2 years I have tried talking my wife in to driving my JKU from Dallas to Kitty Hawk but she won't go for it. I am seriously thinking next year about taking 2 cars. Her Pilot for her and the kids and me in my JKU so I can do some beach driving when I get there.
There is a company (probably a few of them) in Kill Devil Hills that will rent you a JKU. Drive the pilot down to keep the wife happy and then rent a wrangler for a day or two and have some fun!

So great, just about to book a house for a few days this weekend. Even better, my Anvil JKU just came in last weekend (ahead of the 6 week build expectancy) so I get to take my Jeep on the beach too!!! Can't wait, need the recharge to get through another NoVA winter....
Exact opposite happened to me in the spring. My car was supposed to be delivered a week before our trip in May and ended up being late. It sucked, I was calling the dealer up until the minute we left to drive down. Fortunately my girlfriend also has a JKU so I could make due driving that lol.

Went to the Outer Banks allot when I was in the USMC. Fabulous times out there but never had a Jeep to enjoy it to the fullest. Gulf coast down to Padre Sea shore is where we beach it now days. Your pictures are great and it makes me want to take my honey and head East for a run at it.
Thanks! I've always loved going to the Outer Banks but its a totally different experience when your in a jeep!

30 years ago I had an OBX sticker on my Jeep and people used to ask me what it was? I told them "The Outer Banks" they would say "What's that?"
funny.
That is funny. In NoVA about 1 in 6 cars have an OBX sticker now lol.

Oh to be single again.

My beach trips are now so stressful I dread them. Kids screaming, wife complaining, money tight, a million opinions on what to do. Groan.

Looks like the good ole days.

I hear ya..... was there for many years. Kids will grow up and money will eventually free up (it always does) those first two issues usually quiets down the wife.
It'll come :) ..... being single these days could be a mixed bag.

Was down there this past summer, it is an awesome time when you own a wrangler. Got a house again next summer in duck. Looking forward to another great time cruising on the beach!

Thx for sharing!

Those are great photos and looks like y'all had a blast! We didn't get to have a beach vacation this year, first time since I was little, so checking out your photos was a nice blast of salt air!

Been to Duck and Avon many times, great place!

That is real funny about the stickers, they are everywhere now.
