My wife and I purchased a new 2010 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4x4 a few months ago. We had a 2.5 inch Pro Comp (aka Pro Junk) suspension lift and 33 inch tires/rims installed at 4 Wheel Parts, but now the Jeep drives worse than a tank, literally. It drives extremely poor in every manner. It wanders at highway speeds and the ride quality, or lack of, is so bad. 4 Wheel Parts even agreed that the vehicle rides extremely rough. They have reset the alignment and replaced all four shocks, which improved the ride, but it is still poor.
I am new to this forum stuff, but I thought I would give it a try because I am at a loss.
Does anyone have any suggestions for improving the ride quality? I would like to keep a 2-3 inch suspension lift with 33 inch tires. Even though I do not want to, I will purchase another brand of lift to improve the ride quality and please my wife. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Pro- comp is a brand owned by 4 WD. They tried to sell me one and I told them that after the research I did Pro-comp is not a great lift. I ended up going with Tera Flex 2.5 and it seems to make the ride better. But everybody has the one they like and you will probably get different suggestions
Looking forward to hearing responses on this I just installed this lift and have the same problems. Did you lift end up being more like a four inch lift? I have added adjustable front track bar, realigned still drives terrible wanders quite a bit. Actually thinking about going to stock and doing flat fenders and 33.
I have this lift and it doesn't seem so bad to me, I did have to play with tire pressure and that helped me a lot. No issues with wandering on the road either.
But I've always had good service with 4wp and if you are that unhappy maybe they will take it back and give you credit to a new one of your choice especially if they are telling you it is rough. Or get them to replace it with a new pro comp one and see if that fixes it, possible it could be bad parts
An yes mine is more than 2.5" but they settle over time too as they break in
It's is right now, but only until I purchase a tuner next march to lower the tpms to less than 37. Running it at that high of a psi o nay. Had my center tire lugs impacting the ground which will cause faster tire wear. Long as you keep an eye on it yourself with a gauge the light is only an annoyance not something that really impacts you. I don't really notice it anymore
2010 JK Wrangler 4x4 Unlimited running 2.5 inch Pro Comp suspension lift with 17x9 Pro Comp wheels and 33x12.5x17 Pro Comp Xtreme Mud Terrain tires aired up to 35 psi (no tire pressure monitoring problems yet). Rig looks and performs great, but rides very poor. The suspension is super stiff. I swear it's going to rattle my Jeep apart. It's seriously that bad!
Sad to say, I don't think I'll ever purchase Pro Comp gear again. The suspension has been a nightmare since day one and the polished wheels are far from polished, and I've only had them a couple months. Spare yourself the headaches and purchase better gear. Let this be a lesson- spent the extra money and avoid any and all 4 Wheel Parts Pro Comp discounts or special offers. However, do not take this posting as an attack on 4 Wheel Parts because they have been very professional and kind, and are still working with me to correct the issue.
As for the wandering do a search on caster. You may need to a new lower control arms. I have a 2" lift and it drove like cr@p. Added the new longer control arms and viola' it drove like new again. As for the ride, get rid of the spacers and add new longer springs may help.
For a 2.5 inch lift I have read and seen great reviews for TeraFlex. That is what I plan to get for my 4 door in a year or two. Not too over priced either. Other ones I am looking at are OME and BDS. BDS has a great lifetime warranty that makes it super appealing. Emailed Teraflex to get a price and I got a very uninformative response so I am in the air between them and BDS. Good luck, I have been reading over your thread and really feel for you and appreciate you sharing it with us. I will steer clear of Pro Comp.

I have the Pro-comp 4 inch lift along with the MX-6s and in my '10 Rubi and I like it. It will never be confused with a Lexus like ride but I've gone from San Jose CA to KC MO in it with no issues. Leaving this week on another road trip from CA to CO. I guess I have to disagree with the Pro-crap moniker at least for now...
Thank you all for the replies. I think I will lower the air pressure just a bit and stick out the Pro Comp gear for a year or so, then upgrade to a premium full flexing 4 inch lift with 35 inch tires. I've had my 2010 Wrangler for 7 months and already have 15,000 miles. Lift and tires were installed at 500 miles, so I expect to buy new tires in a year or so, at which time I will swap out the lift as well. Unless my research leads me in another direction, I will more than likely purchase a SkyJacker or BDS lift.
And please don't take this as a rant and rave bashing session against Pro Comp as I'm sure they make decent products and some people have had great experieneces with their gear. Pro Comp just isn't for me though. Thanks.
I've got the 2.5" Pro Comp lift on my 2010 Wrangler JK, and have no issues. I've got 35'x 12.5" BFG's. It does ride like a Jeep, but not a lot of travel at all. I really like the way it looks and handles. All installed by 4WP. Maybe the tires make some of the difference? I hope it all works out for you.
