Angry JK 2 DR Front Passenger seat leaver

Hey guys, i just had a problem with the lever on the front passenger seat. The lever used to make access for the back seats has something wrong with it. when i pull the leaver only the upper part of the seat moves forward, the bottom part stays where it is so i have to do it manually in order to get someone into the back. Any suggestions on what could be wrong?

I hate to say this, but are you sure you are using the right lever? On the passenger seat there is a lever on the horizontal part of the seat that is for reclining only. There is another lever on the vertical part of the seat that allows the upper part to lean forward and the entire seat to slide forward as well. You have to push this lever towards the rear of the vehicle for it to work. If you are using the right lever, make sure you do not have anything under your seat that is preventing it from sliding. Also, if you have the seat in the forward-most position, it will not slide any further when the lever is pushed.

I was looking at a 2 door today, the salesman said the front seats do not move forward automatically, you have to manually move the seat forward. Was I given the wrong information??????

The 2 door has a lever to move the seat for accessing the back seat. You push the upper lever back and the seat back leans forward and the whole seat slides forward. It just doesn't move forward and downwards like the seat in the TJ does.

Thanks. I wasn't talking to my regular salesman, I wanted to test drive a 2-door and this other guy went with me, he didn't really know anymore than I did on how what level, etc... and said that's the way they are. It was also 2 degrees(F) that morning. I'm going back to the dealership in the next couple of weeks and checking it out. It just didn't seem right at the time, that you had to manually move the seat forward(by the adjustment on the front of the seat). I really like the looks of the 2 door better.

I had a "learning curve" problem with the two-door passenger seat in my 08, Wrangler X while on vacation.

It seems that the seat has a "memory" capability for the preseting to the previously selected comfort position. When you try and manipulate it outside the vehicle to an alternate position, (especially if you attempt to do this with the wrong handle), it will not reposition properly.

It's a learning curve thing.

My 2008 JK passenger seat front/rear/tilt is totally inoperable. It will not "notch" in any position. Someone said that the mechanism is integral to the seat, and that I'll have to buy an entire new seat! HELP!

Just ditch the entire back seat and you magically have a 2 seater Sports Jeep with lots of space for STUFF.

^^this

I rarely have my back seat in. It's my DD so occasionally I will have 2 maybe 3 other people who want to ride with me. After you take the back seat in and out a few times you get very familiar with how to do it. It takes about 1.5 minutes to remove/replace the back seat so it's easy to accommodate passengers.

the mechanism works by a couple of internal cables kinda like a pedal bike shifter most likely something is just out if its place
its not a huge job to disassemble once the seat is removed if you are handy with tools. I would recommend taking a look at it yourself otherwise try any local auto trim shops for a quote
good luck

PS if you get pros to do it ask how much less if you remove the seat yourself

^This. There is a cable system and the entire thing needs to be replaced. this was one of the few things I had repaired under warranty. When first took it in, they checked it and came back to me saying it was fine, that JK's didn't slide forward. I told the service manager to come to the showroom with me. I should him how id folds and slide (2009). He took me back into the shop, grabbed the tech and marched him out to the showroom. Showed him the seat then said, "Now make his work like this!"
