JK burnt smell

I am currently traveling cross country from Florida to Arizona..After towing everyday when I get in the JK, I have a smell in the cab that smells like a burnt belt or a hot smell. After talking with a camping neighbor towing another JK he told me that his does the same thing..My JK has a battery disconnect on it which I use because the key has to be in the ACC position to prevent the steering wheel from locking..Any ideas what the smell could be.....

Please do tell what exactly you have maneuvered with the jeep before the smell, do you drive standard ? I almost burned my clutch and the burning smell invaded the cabin (ESP123 from this forum informed me on this mishap)

No just towing, yes I have the 6 speed standard and the other camper next to me had the automatic with the same issue, so I know it's not a clutch issue..Thanks..

Do check the "burning rubber" thread. This was my issue also. And as far as your battery disconnect goes, it's not needed. The key does not have to be on or in the ACC position. Seems that the newer JK's don't have a steering wheel lock. (that's what i was told, and our 2010 Islander doesn't). Someone's a little behind on updating the owners manuals. Before i tow again, i'm going to make a splash shield of sorts to fill the gap from the drivers side frame rail and the inner factory splash shield. Maybe this will keep some of the road grime and tire rubber from getting through onto the exhaust. Happy towing.
