So this morning I'm headin into work as usual, highway speed down a country road, nothing unusual. Three vehicles heading towards me... the second one -- a landscaper's pickup truck with trailer -- decides to turn left in front of me.
Not down the road in front of me. Not 1/4 mile away in front of me. Directly
in front of me.
I slammed the brakes, swerved hard left to avoid dummy's trailer, swerved back hard right to avoid third oncoming car. And that was that. No fishtailing, no skidding, no sliding. Everything in my Jeep that was not tied down went airborne like I was a spaceman in orbit, but the vehicle stayed 'in control' the whole time.
Color me impressed. Not that I want to try it again, but I hadn't figured the Wrangler for a vehicle that would handle a high-speed emergency maneuver that well.
[I should note that "full speed" was in the 50's. I was not barreling down a country backroad at 90, thank ya.]
