I am debating if it's a good idea to spend the money and get these or if I should go with the $100-150 range LED replacement lights in the factory housing and save some dollars.
Don't know if the LED's last long enough to not have to replace them every 6 months or a year, or how long would the truck lite's last.
Buy the complete unit. You won't be disappointed.
I believe KC LEDs have a 23 yr. warranty or some such.
I have Q-tecs and paid about that. Best mod ever.
I've heard nothing but positive reviews on the Truck-Lite LED headlights, made here in the USA and their 3-year warranty. Northridge complete package out the door with adaptors for late model JK/JKU's with free shipping for $379, hard to beat! Headlight retrofit options abound, Q-tec special of $379 for Made in China LED Headlights was considered momentarily. JW Speaker LED headlights cost are a bit excessive but what I've seen are great headlights, but it couldn't justify $800 for headlights if a $379 headlight upgrade would be comparable. I prefer simple cost effective mods that deliver performance without being overpriced or underperform.
Okay, so the KC Hilites 7" LED headlights are available for $ 460, which comes with 23 Year warranty...Amazon primes ships for free...is that a better deal than Northridge? And Are KC just as good or better than Truck Lites ?
I'm not anti Truck Lite, but they do not have 100% positive reviews. There are a number of reviews that complain about the X pattern lighting artifacts on the ground and even some that have changed them out to another brand because of this. There are also many more reviews that really like them...
The KC's are re-branded Peterson's. Again, mostly positive reviews, but they have been a little more expensive until recently. I think 4ws.com has the Peterson's for $349.
Remember that you will need an anti-flicker harness. Make sure it's included or that you add it to the price when comparing.
23 year warranty? Sounds a little excessive. Yes I have the X artifact in my lights but it doesn't affect the pattern. It's a very wide pattern. I can see in the ditches before a deer runs out in frt of me. I choose American made.
This isn't at all about re-branding or any negativity associated with it, it should be about performance to cost, since the OP is asking about spending $$... If it was just about performance we would be at $800+ with no questions about how good they are.
I read a lot on Candlepower as well and there are a lot of opinions, as well as a significant amount of fact. I do not have Quadratec's, but I have been waiting to see some objective and independent testing on them. And that is usually where you will find it. But so far, there are posts that just say they aren't as good as others. And it's from users that don't appear to have them and/or didn't test them and maybe haven't even seen them in person. That's an "opinion", as are the Q-Tec reviews here, they are also opinion.
The KC's are re-badged Peterson's, I state that so that a user may search for the Peterson's as well as KC and find additional information that may include testing or opinion based reviews.
I also state that there are MANY positive reviews on Truck Lites, but there are also negative reviews.
It is widely agreed that the JW Speaker EVO2 is an extraordinary headlight, at or near the best. They also just updated their anti-flicker harness which eliminates any issue that has been raised about them, except price.
I really do need to get my hands on the Q-tecs and test them.
Somebody that's friendly with Rick at Q-tec, have him send me a set to test. I can donate them to SOLAROS after the test for their annual SAE (auction proceeds all go to Habitat for Humanity). ...or send them back... Solaros
JW Speaker gave me a set of TS3000R driving lights one year for it, Trucklite a set of lights, and Optima a YellowTop.
