JK Hood Is Shaking Up And Down

Hello.

On my GFs JK the hood is shaking up and down 1-2" at speeds +55-60 mph.
I donīt know how to solve this problem.
Everything looks ok to me.
Any ideas?

Thanks for your help.

Mine does it occasionally if I am behind a semi trailer and it catches the wind. I think it is normal becasue it really isnt latched down tightly like a normal hood.

Coupla different ways to resolve this.

1. Remove the little spring under the front edge of the hood.
2. Get sum of those fancy "Hood Wranglers" from DayStar
3. Get a Woods JK hood flutter fixer (you'll have to call em cuz I don't see it on their site anymore)
4. Fugetaboudit. It's a common complaint but I have yet to hear of anyone wearing their hood as a windshield decoration.

Taking the little hood spring is the easiest cheapest solution and mine NEVER "flutters" antmore-

Not having the spring makes it a LITTLE harder to open the hood at first, but it's still a worthwhile trade !!

I also put a 3/4" rubber gasket across the full width of the hood front edge, maybe not necessary--

the above are the best options you have. and they all help with it.

there are some expensive options that dont use rubber to hold the hood down too

curious though, is it stock? did you remove the "air skirt" on the bottom of the bumper, and is it lifted?

usually lifting and/or removing that skirt (aftermarket bumpers get rid of them) lets air flow up and under the hood giving it lift, and the stock hood hold downs arent up to the task.

It's COMMON for the hood to flutter slightly under speed, particularly, if you're on that hammer and jammin' Eastbound and down.

The simple problem is the hood is held down by rubber quick release fasteners.

So what?

Enjoy yourself and keep on truckin'.

The daystar hood wranglers for about $25 totally eliminated the flutter! Took 5 minutes to install, 85mph and no flutter. Stock are rubber and stretch, these won't stretch at all.
