JK ignition key matched locking gas cap

Does this exist? I had this setup on my old LJ. I was the second owner on that so it was there when I bought it. I believe it was a MOPAR add on part. There is one on Quadratec but it says it comes with 2 keys so I assume its already keyed. Since my JK is on order and I have never actually owned one, I am not even sure if they come with one from the factory.

A quality locksmith can match the lock cylinder to your key.

Well this will have to be one of my first mods then. I'll have to ask the stealership what they will do it for, and get a quote from a locksmith. Thanks for the reply.

i did this on mine, however, the dealer closest to me had a problem fitting the flat metal tumblers (the small flat different length shims) into the new 2012 mopar locking gas cap cylinder...

the dealer ended up having to shave down the metal slightly to work. works properly with my ignition key now though

Just buy it on Ebay from Airpark Chrysler Jeep Dodge. That's where I got mine for my 2012 Arctic. All I did was email them my VIN, and they sent me a keyed gas cap and matching spare key (doesn't start my Jeep, just fits the locks). Excellent price for about $70 with shipping AND you don't have to deal with a locksmith. This is for a Compass, but it's the same part number for the Wrangler. Mine works perfect.

Awesome! Sounds like a reasonable hassle free deal. I have my VIN but my Jeep hasn't even gone through the production line yet so I may wait until it is at least built before I order something off the VIN. Thanks for the link!

Yes, I would wait until it is built because the key code wont be attached to the VIN until after production.

You can buy a Mopar locking gas cap that works with your ignition key. The part # is 68030940AA. http://www.mopar-accessories.com/en-...=3012&pc=74631

You don't need the dealer to key it to your ignition. After you buy it, put your ignition key in the cap, turn it, and it is now keyed to your key. I have this locking cap on my 2012 JKU and it works fine.

I'm going to see how much a locksmith will charge to key my locking lid (not cap) to my ignition key next week. If it's $100 or less then I am going to do it.

edit: I've called 3 local locksmiths and none of them will do this?? WTH?
