JK Lifetime Warranty

I was talking to my salesman today and he mentioned that Chrysler has a lifetime warrenty that i can purchase. Has anybody had any experience with this? I don't plan on heavly modding my Jeep, but i'd like to tweak and adjust it to my taste. Perhaps, one day, I might add a 2.5 inch lift and some 35's. does this affect the warrenty on the driveline? or just the suspension. Any comments or experiences would be apprciated before i plunk down a huge chunk of change. Thanks!

only thing I can add is make sure you price shop it. You can get the lifetime warranty for about $2200.00

My dad worked for Chrysler and I looked into the fine print on the warranty. If the vehicle is modified in any way from stock your warranty can become null and void.

So changing the suspension mucks up the drive train warrenty? i can see not covering the parts that were installed after the Jeep was delivered, but anything beyond that and i'll keep my cash for repairs later on down the trail.

Yes, backed by Chrysler. Chrysler Extended Warranties

After you get the quote, click on something that says "Promo Code" and they'll immediately email you an additional discount of $180 or so, good for the next 7 days off their regular price.

Not only that but I've read where some owners have been hassled by the dealer about voiding their warranty if some electrical issue popped up and they had replaced their factory headlights and/or wiring harness with some aftermarket product.

If you have an extended warranty they'll look over your Jeep with a magnifying glass to find any reason to make the warranty null and void.

No, i have a JKR 10A on order.
I loved my TJ though. I sold it about a year ago for financial reasons and once i was in good financial shape again, i didn't waste any time ordering a new Jeep.

Didn't 2007 & 2008 Chrysler products have an unlimited warranty for the original owner?

Got it.

Updating your thread title so more can see/comment on it accurately.

Not like Chrysler needed any help building trouble plagued vehicles all by themselves lol.

How does this work? Mopar aftermarket intake, lift, etc voids the warranty? Doesn't make much sense to me. i don't have the warrant and I can't get a dealer to send a sample to me but I'd think if this was true, there would be a huge number of people animated bout it.

The dealership is going to have to prove the modification caused the problem. Under the Magnuson-Moss Act it's illegal to just see that the vehicle is modified and void the warranty. This is all too common and you shouldn't accept a warranty denial without the proof that what you installed caused the issue.

This is my first Jeep and haven't gotten much done to it yet but I never had any trouble with my Toyotas and my local dealers and they were all lifted and modified for rock crawling and some daily driving. They were always willing to help and only once questioned my usage of the Tacoma as I brought it in for a throwout bearing going bad. They wanted to know if I had done any water crossings where water could have gotten into the transmission. I told them i had to cross a small but moderately deep mud puddle of sorts and they replaced it. Even took me back to the bay to talk about it and the truck. They were always happy to see me bring in the vehicles and talk about them.

I see a lot of talk on here about dealerships denying work and voiding warranties. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come for me. I love the Jeep though and can't wait to modify, modify, modify!

I don't mind spending the money for a warrenty. But, these trucks beg to be modified. I just don't want to waste my money if the dealer is going to put up a fuss over a small lift, bigger tires or a K&N air filter. That's a cheap, crummy way to do business.
Has anyone ever had a warrenty claim refused because of some common modification? Can you tell me about it? I'd just like to know what questions to ask before I spend thousands on a lifetime warrenty.

Lifetime powertrain warranty. I have one on my 2007 Sebring.

Every 5 years they do an inspection on it and go over the maintenance records meticulously to try and find anything that hasn't been done according to the maintenance schedule so they can void the warranty.

I think it really boils down to the dealer. That's why a certain dealer near me (that I bought from) has people drive for all over the Mobile area to buy from him. He has a reputation for taking care of the customers after the sale, even with modded jeeps.

I guess time will tell. I normally don't buy extended warranties on ANYTHING, but I did purchase his 100k mile bumper to bumper.
