Nice tread! The only thing that bothers me is some guy drivin around in his lifted jeep ( cheap lift usually). With "baller" rims and mts on. Bumper maybe n winch. Some minor mods. Acting all hard core in his Sahara. And the thing will never leave the blacktop. Makes me want to throw mud at them lol. Orrrr in general mall crawlers/ ashphault princesses.... Those poor, neglected keeps. Lol.

1. This thread is useless without a poll that includes bacon; and

B) Why would you let what others do with their Jeep bother you? How can it possibly affect your life in any way? I never understand these types of threads. Live and let live, or rather, Jeep and let Jeep.

In before lock!

My peeve is condescending, overly-macho jeep drivers who worry about what others do with their jeeps. My wife's jeep will most likely never see a trail, but she likes the way it rides and handles, the ability to remove the top & doors, and the fact that it just looks cool. I'm pretty sure that doesn't make you better than her anywhere outside of your fantasy world.
My jeep is covered in trail scratches, dings, and rides like a beast with its 4" lift. The 35" tire rides just fine on the stock carrier on the trail, and it would still piss me off if the hardtop leaked. I enjoy the satellite radio and Bluetooth while I'm out wheeling it. I guess that makes me less of a jeeper too...

had to jump back in on this one. You completely missed my point. Your wife is not in the group I have a pet peeve about. she enjoys her Jeep, likes the way it rides and is willing to go topless. If she was at the dealer complaining about the stiff ride, etc then I would smh and probably say "you realize you bought a Jeep, right?" Never said I was better than anyone, man. it just cracks me up when people buy Jeeps and think they are just like cars or suv's.

LOL! My wife was like, "You don't want to wait and maybe get a white one, or red?"

Me, "It's got AC and 3.73's, I'm buying it!"

OTOH I don't think everyone has to be a hardcore wheeler to buy and enjoy a jeep. The west coast is full of jeeps that are just fun DDs that might just see a few dirt roads to get to the beach, camping, shooting, etc.. And WTF could be wrong with that?

Just like there are plenty of corvettes and porsches that never see a track. Isn't it just enough that cool vehicles exist and are rolling around?

I think this forum could use two major sections: Wheelers and Roadies. Personally I am a roadie, but have major respect for wheelers. I LOVE seeing all those bad-ass lifted monster Jeeps! Unfortunately, I live in Upstate NY and my Jeep is my DD, not to mention, I just don't have the funds to justify all the mods. I have a bunch of mods, but they're all geared (sorry, no pun intended, lol) to on-road comfort and practicality. I jump at any chance I get to remove the top and doors, though. Since the wife won't let me buy a motorcycle, my Jeep is the next best thing!

So uh, where do overland builds fit in? They probably don't mud, squeeze through trees or hardcore rock crawl. Maybe just drive over some plains grass.

Does that make em less of a Jeep?

Same here, although we just have the hard top. Had it off/on a few times already and no leaks, even with a high pressure wand at the car wash.

I guess they don't make 'em like they used although apparently that is a good thing.

IMPORTANT ADDITION TO THIS THREAD: I love beer and boobies.

THE "I CAN'T HELP IT, IT'S FUN" PORTION: I guess somebody who drives a GT500 but never races it on the track is a poser...someone who buys an STI but doesn't do rally races is a poser...someone who drives a Prius but doesn't recycle beer bottles is a poser...where does it end?

My hardtop does'nt leak, has budget mods and goes wherever I point it, pulls out Rubi's and anything else stuck.
those that pay 40k for a Jeep and change out the entire drive train, half the interior and put in a rollcage are sick in my op
obtw...there are no badges on my Jeep because everybody knows it's a Jeep.

Anyone who uses a top, soft top or hard top, isn't a real jeeper.

Or anyone without a .50 cal mounted on their rollbar

Nor those who use indoor plumbing or buy their food from a store.

:-)

Hahaha! Prius comment was great.

What about the guy with the GT500 that complains about MPG's? Or the Jeeper that complains about a stiff ride or puts 20" rims on it?

It's not about being a 'real' man or a 'real' Jeeper. Would you buy a lawn tractor to use as a golf cart and then complain because it's not a good golf cart? (That's an extreme analogy, but I'm just trying to make a point). My point is, Jeeps were originally go anywhere military vehicles and I'm glad they've done a great job with the off-road capability over time. I also understand they sell them to the masses. I still find it funny that people buy jeeps and then 'bling' them out or complain about a stiff ride or leaky top. And yes, I will shake my head at you if you pull up next to me at a gas pump with 20" wheels, shiny tires and chromed out mirrors.
I appreciate the guys that chimed in with funny stuff to say or actually felt the same way. Happy 4th, time to drink some beers..

I don't usually waste my time on threads like this but I'll play.
I'm a noob and I want to know as much as possible before spending $35k. People ask about colors because they may not have seen them and want opinions. Why do you care so much?
And Gunut or whatever your name is, ENOUGH with the "fooouur doooor" bullshit. Pretty sure the JKU is one of the top selling Jeeps of all time. So what if some of us want to have room for kids or other things. Not out fault we have other people in our lives. And I'm pretty sure you've been warned about derailing threads with that fooouur doooor crap. Give it a rest already.

What's funny is that if Jeep actually built Jeeps for all the "hardcore" Jeepers out there all of the "hardcore" Jeepers would be posting in the "Chrysler discontinuing all Jeep products due to lack of sales" thread.

There is no excuse for a hardtop vehicle to leak. Period. Poor design and/or workmanship is the only reason. As for everything else, and especially relevant on this day, this is the United States of FN America which for at least a little while longer is a FREE country. So go buy a Jeep, drop it to the ground on 20's, bling the sh*t out of it, remove the rear seats and fill it up with subs, neon strips underneath, dice from the mirrors and trucknuts in the back and drive with pride because at least we are free to spend OUR money how WE want to

I have to somewhat agree with the OP. I have wanted a JK since they came out. I took my JK on a trail within 6 days of ownership. That's what I bought it for, to camp and go off road. I of course didn't get too crazy since it was brand new and I am still learning 4 wheel drive techniques in it.

I hate seeing a soccer mom or someone similar in ANY Jeep with lifts and lights and all the aftermarket stuff. It's even worse when they talk crap because they have an awesome off road vehicle. Most, not all, but most will tell that they have never been off road with it and even have a friend that has an awesome Rubicon and she called me a few years ago worried about a snow storm that was coming in and if she would be able to go anywhere. We got about 9 inches of snow in one evening. She didn't even know how to put it in 4 wheel drive.
