I am looking for a add-on rear cross bar for the 2 door JK roll bar.
I just got my Spderwebshade and I want to stretch the shade down into the rear seat area immediately behind the overhead speakers. Sort of a windjammer.
The problem is that there is not a flat surface (bar) to stretch the shade over.
I have a Spiderweb shade and it does not stretch at all. The Spider balls only stretch so far so I just run them thru the holes where the big screws go in the soundbar for the freedom top panels and the rear corner spiderballs just loop around the seatbeat adjuster on each side.
? Why can't you pull it down and attach it to the upright roll bar next to the seats? It doesn't need a flat surface to stretch over.
Edit: you can pick up short bungies at Walmart 4/$2 and hook them together with the supplied bungies if you need a little extra length....
It really won't cut the wind that much on the highway anyway... And if you really want to, you can just pick up some pet screen, grommets and bungies and make your own windscreen.... It's not hard, or expensive.
I want to stretch the shade over the middle bar and straight down to the back floor board. Keeping all four edges stretched tight.
The problem with doing this is, that there is not a flat smooth pivot point for the shade to rest on behind the overhead speakers.
The shape of the back side of the overhead speaker housing creates sort of a V shape. So when you stretch the shade over and down, it slides to the center and bunches up the back edge of the shade.
I understand that it will not make much difference in the wind but, it will provide a little more privacy from behind and cut down on headlight glare at night.
So, with all that said, are you aware of these add on bars?
Nope, never seen one. Sorry. As I mentioned you could just make a separate piece to use as a wind jammer if the aesthetics are that important, or you could fab a bar out of some pvc tube and an X joint cut in half to fit over the roll bar. Paint it black and you're done...
Get some of these from Wally world. Run the bungee thru the corner grommet and use the hook to attach to the holes in the tub where the hardtop attaches. Works like a charm. Sorry I don't have a pic of when I had mine configured like a windjammer.
