Jk rubicons and their 1/10 rc clones

I've made scale Rc's of all my rubicons and thought it'd be cool to see some others. Here's mine, post em if you've got em too.

This one is based on the old 2 door but stretched 1.5" to fit. Now it hill climbs really well. Based off an axial with full waterproof electronics, brushless and 11.1v 5400mah lipo. Also have a scale set of 35" bfg mud terrains.

Here is my scx10 and Rubicon. I have mip drive shafts, cv axle shafts, rc 4wd knuckles and c's, castle esc and a 35 turn brushed motor. I just put on rc4wd bumpers as well.

Wow. I've never been into the RC stuff, but these look tough to make. How much of this is craftsmanship versus just ordering parts online and screwing them together?

It's as much of either one as you want . It can get expensive buying parts but it's still less than 1/10th the price of the full scale ones.

They are fun and completely addictive. They have full steel ladder frames and you can run scale king coil overs , warn winches, Rockwell style axles, yota or dana axles.
Here is a quick crawling video of mine before I turned it into a mini me or my rubicon.

Man! You have some great control over that R/C! I'm always full throttle balls out with my Stampede. Guess that comes from my carpet racing and dirt track racing days.

P.S.

Damn, just looked at the videos on the Company site and saw some of the detail shots of the chassis and suspension. All I can say is WOW.

I'm not lifting my Real JK, but I could dig getting into this one with my Grandson. Same difference, R/C stuff is just like Jeeps, Just empty every pocket!

My wife thinks I am a nerd but its fun messing around with them. I am into the slow movement and making the vehicles look realistic. I have a shirt course truck rc that I use if I need speed. I love trying different suspension like 3,4, or 5 link suspensions, stuff that I can't afford to do on the real thing.

My wife wonders about my toys too. But she understands that it is good quality time with my grand sons when we either build one or run one.

To those that have one, These are "kits" right? One's you have to build up and then run, or are they Ready to Run? I am at the point where I want/need to build one up.

I was also wondering if they have a 2 door JK body or kit because I would love to build one up to match/mod mine.

I use to have a HPI Savage with a two door rubi body. I loved that body. It was more proportional to that Savage than the truck bodies. That thing could go anywhere!

Question #1 Axial has a jeep kit that you build and put in your own electronics. They also makde a RTR which is the silver one that i have.

Question #2 Prolineracing makes two door bodies that you can paint up!

Go to towerhobbies.com type in Jeep and the axials will pop up.

Iam big into RC. Its a great hobby but it gets very exsepensive with after market radios, chargers, batteries and brushless systems and parts. This hobby just snowballs no end!

I moved on from these toys (yes fun) to real size fun - hence the Jeep. Not talking bad about rc, my traxxas would jump houses but I moved on to Jeep and old cars. I do like the matching to your real Jeep.

I've been messing r/c's since before I could walk and even having the real thing I still have waaay too much fun with the Rc's. My wife doesn't mind but since I can mess with them without throwing down a few grand just to do the basics.

Here's some more cool stuff you can do

Like my tj but silver

This one I setup to select 4hi 4lo 2hi 2lo and lock the front axle to do a rear wheel drive burnout, all via the remote. Here's a video:

This nikko hummer has been modified soo much to crawl it can climb places mine and my buddies built axial cant. I've modified it with 4:1 gear reductions, lockers, remote op scale winch, LEDs, waterproof fully hobby electronics

A water line broke under the street so I just had to....

I really wish they made a Scale body for the Traxxas Summit. I love my Summit espically with the lockers in it but no really nice bodies.

I am going to add a Wrangler Proline Racing body to my Traxxas Revo. Matching Dozer paint if I can find it.

I was into racing R/C's for a long time. Even went on vacations just to go to race tracks like the Lake Whipoorwill Race track in Florida. Not even sure if they are still around. I used to take all three of my kids to the tracks for race night. We were dropping $50-100 a night just to stay competitive. I got out of it in 1990-91 after I got called up for Desert Storm. Had a lng time to think about the costs involved.

This past summer my 9 year old grand son saw some of my old stuff in the basement. I got one of the RC-10 buggys running and let him have a go. He's now hooked, but like the Monster Truck versions better. Hand painted a Grave Digger body for him just to re-new my skill set with lexan bodies.

I just love the details of these Axial units. I'll have to see if my hobby shop across town has any.

Just what I need to spend my early retirement money on! LOL!

I just got done cutting and painting a hardtop for mine as well as upgrading my steering links. All my electonics are stock but i am going to be buying a new receiver so i can use my airtronics MT4 radio. Been thinking about those king racing shocks to add a nice touch.
