jk spare tire spacer

Ok guys this is probably an easy one for you. Just got 33s installed on my new jeep with factory 17wheels. The spare tire is giving me troubles as it does not want to fit. The problem is not with the height but actually width... there are two black rubber retainers on the factory carrier and the new 33 tire is pushing on them so it does not feet. Rather than cutting a piece of both retainers I want to know what is out there that you can recommend.

Thanks

Bengen I totally vonfused everyone with my question.

I read my question again and yes it seems I am asking for the retainers stupid me lol

What I am looking for is some sort of extender for the spare tire carrier so I am able to put a 33 inches tire on the factory carrier.

just give it some good pressure to squish the rubber bumpers down. Easy thing to do is cut a little off the end of them. Don't cut too much tho or they will be too short and you need them to contact the tire so you don't get vibration which fatigues the carrier. I run true 33's on mine with stock rim no problem.

Jadmt... how long have you had the 33 spare tire with stock carrier? I was able to fit mine but now I am having concerns about the weight of the tire on the tailgate...

Hey jadmt, did you have to use a tire spacer or do any modifications? Teraflex page warns about a modification needed if using stock wheels. I have my stock 17s that came with the rubicon... just wondering...

no spacer with stock rim. I did need to trim about an inch off the rubber bumper but that is easy. I suppose if you used a really wide tire on the stock rim it might be tight but with stock rim and 285/75's it is not an issue. Mine are actually 34's.

I read that about the modification needed also. I had the 285/70R17 BFG KM2s on the stock rims on the Teraflex carrier/hinge before switching wheels and had no problem.
