JK'S do not look like Hummers

Finally realized why I love the look of the JK so much more than the older models. With the hard angular lines and the differing color top, it reminds me of the first gen Broncos. Everyone loves the old Broncos. When I passed one in the highway, it amazed me how close in size and style they are, especially with a hardtop and full doors....

Put a white top on a blue body and fix the fenders and they are close. Even close to the same size.

There is a far superior beast I wish would be resurrected that has a similar look to the Bronco but is in the Jeep family. The Jeep Commando!

I had a '73 and as I recall they are similar in size to the JKU (only with two doors).

I've liked the look of the Broncos ever since I saw The Eiger Sanction as a teenager.

My Dad had one like this and I learned how to drive with it. It was rusting out pretty bad and he traded it in for the 85 Cherokee that he bought in '86 (and ended up being my first vehicle). Needless to say, I'd love to see Jeep resurrect it today!

Broncos, Scouts, and the like were all great vehicles in their day. I am a Jeep loyalist but it would be nice to see a new generation of purposeful and versatile vehicles like the Wrangler from other manufacturers.

KC-I agree Jeeps don't look like Hummers. Even this one:

My dad has a '73 Commando he has had for 30 years and continues to mod/build. He runs with who knows how much total lift, 40" tires and a railroad tie for a front bumper. He also has a '68 with the more classic Jeep grill in decent shape we plan to start restoration on at some point in the future.

Is there a part # for the turret? It would look good on my jeep as well.

No, sadly I rolled and totaled my old commando and it's currently used for spare parts. It used to look very similar to the top one; had the 5.0L V8 with a 4" lift and 33's with the classic white wheels. I loved that thing!

I can muster up some pics of my dad's. It's a scary beast!
