JKU rear storage cover?

Hi guys, I'm looking for a cover for the rear cargo area of my jeep. I'm hoping to find something that covers the rear cargo area when the top is down. A setup that does not require the soft top hardware to be removed would be preferred. I haven't been able to find anything online Thanks for any ideas.

Are you looking for lockable storage or just something to keep stuff out of the sun/not blowing around with the top off?

Spiderweb shades has set ups that will do just what you're asking for. Check out www.spiderwebshade.com and take a look at the jk-4d cargo shade.

Thanks for the replies. I'm looking more for something like what came with my wife's rav 4. It looks like this

I have the cage shade from spiderwebshade. Not really a fan of it. I use my jeep for Home Depot runs and put the back seats down pretty often for my two dogs otherwise I'd get the bestop instatrunk.

Doesn't have to be lockable just looking to cover a subwoofer box, soft top windows etc.. Hoping that a thief won't take what they don't notice.

Lots of people have asked about a retractable shade like that, but as far as I know, no one has ever found one.

What about a tonneau cover? Or actually, they call it a duster deck cover...

Bestop Part bst90031-35 - Duster Deck Cover in Black Diamond - - 4 Wheel Parts

Sorry, that's a two door. They have extensions for four doors.

And none of those seem to be such.

That seems to be the unfortunate truth. One would think that someone out there would be interested in making money and design/market one.

I got this for my wife's JKU. Under $100 and installed in about 5 minutes. Looks really cool as well.

Looks pretty good. Do you use it with a softop? I'm just wondering if it could be put on and have the soft top rest on top of it when it's folded down.

The problem with that one is that you can't use it with the hard or soft top.

Tuffy makes a $200 enclosure that is lockable and works with both the hard and soft top. But it is no where near is quick or easy as a retractable cover.

That is the one I have...and I love it. But yes, it is very expensive. (You can find them on sale for cheaper at other sites).

Tuffy came out with a cheaper version last year.
JK Unlimited Security Tailgate Enclosure Jeep Wrangler, JK 2011+
But it looks like they have raised the price onn it (it is now $300 on the Tuffy site...but probably cheaper at other places).

I made my own with Phifer 60 in. x 96 in. Black SunTex 90-3025979 at The Home Depot with help from the wife. It's similar to the Spiderweb Shade material. I attached it to the mount holes for the hardtop.

OP I have this combo Bestop® Safari Bikini, Duster & Windjammer Summer Combo for 10-13 Jeep® Wrangler Unlimited JK 4 Door with Factory Soft Top - Quadratec and it is awesome. You can run it with no door surrounds or with. You will need the tailgate bar to hold the deck tight. I have it for sale only used it for 2 days and got a trektop NX. Pm me if you are interested in a package deal. My combo price is cheaper than just the rear deck cover.

Weird. When I searched it came up with pretty much the same solutions being discussed in this thread. OP hadn't mentioned retractable in his original post, so maybe that's what you meant. Anyway, I would also really like to have a retractable option but haven't been able to find one either. fdisker's solution is compelling, although the sewing is beyond my capability.

The more I'm looking at that Tuffy 275 the more I'm liking it. It would be nice to have a secure area when the top and doors are off. Looks like the top and front portion come off fairly quickly? (for dogs and Home Depot). Any good deals you know of that you could PM?

I got mine at 4WD.com about a year ago. Put it in your cart and it is $411.29 with free shipping.

I think when I ordrered, it was like $419 or something. I had actually called them trying to get an even better price...but that was the best they could do at the time...however...the guy threw in a free Wrangler T-shirt since I ordered from over the phone instead of over the web-site.

Ha ha nice. They are actually the best price I've found (still 411 in cart). Thanks

I always go back and forth on which one I like better.

The 299 has more room since the top is flush and it sits a few inches deeper. Plus it does not have any exposed nuts....and it is cheaper. I also like the way it secures to the floor in the front.

I can just barely get both of my Freedom panels inside the version I have....so two or three more inches of depth would really help.

Also, being that the top is flush instead of having the 2 inch tray/indention...you have a bit more overall room. I found out that I could have used that room when I was trying to move a full size keg (sideways).

On the flip side, having that two inch indented tray has really been nice. I've placed plenty of items in the top, and I knew that they would not slide into my rear window...or even out of the Jeep for that matter. Also, because the top rotates up and is easily removable (open gate, pull forward, lift up a few inches, push back, remove...takes 30 seconds)...I was able to ride with the top "up" a few inches when my keg would not fit. I was also able to quickly remove the entire unit when I had to move a flat screen TV.

I don't think you can go wrong with either version. It just sucks that they are so expensive.

I originally bought 275 used from someone. For me I decided to turn around and sell it and buy 299 because the 275 supports had to be removed every time i removed the hard top.

One of my biggest concerns would be removal time. Are you able to remove the top and front of the 299 without tools?

The top is easy to remove by hand however you would need a torx to remove the front because it bolts to the floor.

I personally don't intend to remove it a bunch. If I did I would not use it in the first place.

In my opinion if you are looking for a cover that you need to remove often and only have a soft top then maybe you could look into the Tuffy 275.
